Lots of great ideas are out there along with some wonderful hubs about the subject.   Here is one of my favorites by a fellow hubber: stephanie henkel:  The Best Free Gifts for Mom on Mother's Day: 18 FREE Mother's Day Gifts.   Check it out, it's awesome.

It is always nice to be taken out for dinner, a movie is a plus (preferably one that mom likes). Flowers always say I love you well.  Jewelry is extra nice (make sure it is something she would wear).  If she has a hobby, a gift card to her favorite supply store  would be a great idea.  These are all traditional ideas and I am sure we will see some really new and exciting ones to come.

a handmade card and a bouquet of flowers would be the best. My mom always ask for these. Oh yes... she also wants Pizza Hut. Her favorite food !

    Hi anglnwu,

As a mom, I know what I like, and one of the nicest things my kids did for me one mother's day, was to take me out for high tea at a Victorian House.  You are brought a big pot of freshly brewed tea (your choice of tea) and trays of sandwiches, and I just felt really pampered.  This was different and that's what I liked about it....I was with my four beautiful children and I was living it up!

I wrote a two page 'remembrance/appreciation' article for my mother and had made a beautiful card to enclose it.  Put some of my 3D flowers - pink because that is one of her favorite colors - on the front with a matching bookmark inclosed.  And then I would tuck in some money for her to eat out as she was in another state. But she won't need a Mother's Day gift this year...

Take a photo of kids, grandkids, whatever would best fit the situation, and create a canvas at one of the canvas shops online.  There are a few good ones, and I have done this myself.  It is a unique gift, and the canvas turns out beautifully.

Some suggestions included creating a creative Mothers' day themed handmade card using crafts and your imagination; taking your mother out to a nice cafe or restaurant; making or baking something special or her favorite food;  spend plenty of time with her and chat with her about good times and above all, showering your affection on your mother - nothing, not even materialistic things beat genuine love showered on your mother by you on this special occasion!
