Have you ever been kissed on New Year's Eve at midnight?

If you have do tell, was it romantic? Was it spontaneous with a stranger? Was it just going with the flow and the craziness around you?  Is it an actual tradition for you?

Nope.  But my sister once had a stranger come out of the blue and kiss her at midnight, then the next year she found out a picture had been taking and was being used as an advert by the club she was at for their New Year's party!  Weird right?

That would be crazy, wonder if he was looking at her for a while that night?

About twenty years ago I went to a New Year's eve party at my husband's cousin's house and when the clock struck twelve everybody was kissing everybody. Strange enough with all the drinking going on and kissing other than one's own mate, no fights were caused because of it. It was like a tradition. Fighting was most likely saved for more important problems like who looked at who the wrong way. Yep, a redneck party for sure.

New Year's Eve, or Hogmanay is a big night in Scotland.  Years ago (when in my prime, or slightly beyond) I was in Edinburgh with a Scottish boyfriend. He took me to the main street where all the crowds were, milling around, drunk but cheerful, and at midnight there was great cheering and backslapping by strangers, and kisses and hugs and conviviality and someone I didn't know offered me a swig out of his bottle of Scotch, which I graciously accepted of course. There was singing and dancing in the street and breaking down of social barriers - and, coming from a somewhat sheltered  background,  it was something I will treasure and remember for ever
