The Madness
Wars, and rumors of wars
Famine, pain and suffering
Sin, burden and madness
The madness…
Madness that happens
The moment your boss informs you
That you are no longer needed
Madness that you feel
The instant you walk away
With cash on hand from a payday loan
Madness that encompasses you
When the one you voted for
Lies to you on the tv screen
The madness inside builds and builds
Until it overtakes you
Madness that dwells in your core
At the words from your wife
That she wants a divorce
Madness that overtakes your mind
To wave goodbye to your kids
Every other Sunday night
Madness that takes over
As soon as a wrecker
Pulls away your ride
The madness consumes your heart
And becomes your thoughts
Madness that controls you
A short time after the empty shot glass
Fills your sight with blackness
Madness that takes you away
To another dimension
When the line on the table disappears
Madness that calms you
After the prescription bottle
Feeds you a soothing dose
The madness blurs your senses
But takes you to the dark places
Madness that drives you mad
After the 90th day
Of grey clouds and rain
Madness the second
You step into a crowd of people
That seem to crawl in your skin
Madness when you are out of control
No matter how calm everyone
Is around you
The madness is what makes this world
Revolve on its axis
The madness is the poison
Not the remedy
The madness is a sickness
That can dwell within
The madness can be cured
It can be steered toward joy
Just let the One who has control
Take control
Don’t let the madness prevail
Let Him prevail over the madness.
