We Had A Good Time
The classroom I didn't like,
Spelling my name like the mouse;
On the way home riding my bike,
Past the cute little girl's house.
Then home and all alone,
Just me in my room;
In a world all my own,
My imagination could bloom.
Saturday's we'd sit in the dark,
Gulping up celluloid fuel;
On the way home we'd play in the park,
After finding a stick/sword for our duel.
Let me put it this way,
So my poem will rhyme;
At the end of the day,
We had a good time.
Hitchhiking to the shore,
In groups of two or three;
Our adventures became lore,
Swashbucklers on a teenage sea.
Then one night at a dance,
Though it was not my kind of place;
I lifted my head and perchance,
I was captured by her face.
Happy with just her touch,
Love filled our teeming house;
Though besides kids there wasn't much,
She couldn't have been a better spouse.
Let me put it this way,
So my poem will rhyme;
At the end of the day,
We had a good time.
