You Think You Know What You Want

Updated on December 13, 2012

Sometimes you think you know

Exactly what you want

Until you are one step away from it

Until you can have it all

Until you can see it up close

And then all of a sudden

You change your mind

You realize you are a different person

Than you were when the journey started

And so after days or months or years

Of climbing the ladder

You jump off

And everyone thinks you're crazy

Because millions of people want

To be where you were

To have what you had

But you learn the hard way

That everyone wanting to be in your shoes

Doesn't make your shoes

Any more comfortable

And so you throw them away

Because they don't fit you anymore

I reread this again...how true..no one knows what you sacrificed to get where you are on the ladder of Life...the message was right in front of me and even I didn't see it on my first read...awesome...enjoyed immensely..thumbs up...

Interesting. Probably need to read it again in future, just to make sure I've read it right. Voted 'thumbs up' for now... Just kidding. Pretty deep, though, but I haven't gone that far up the ladder or along the road - yet. Jury's still out on that one!

The grass is always greener until shown what it took to get that green grass.

Thanks for sharing, This was great.

I see that same sentiment in myself sometimes. When you have all that people think you should be happy with, sometimes you find yourself with questions and wanting out. You want something to make you come alive again. You hit the nail on the head and give lots of room for thought!
