When did you know you were a poetry writer? What was the first poem you wrote?
I wrote my first poem in the second grade, and it was about my grandfather. Went something along the lines of
"Now God has his soul
All he left us was this bowl"
hehe... the first poem I had published was in the 8th grade, and it was equally stupid. It was a personification of a raindrop. I've always written darker toned poetry, but have always been afraid to share it because people may think I'm nuts. Now I've come to terms with the fact that I may be nuts, so no prob. : )
I realized i was a poetry writer when I heard Cascada "Everytime we touch (Slow)" -and im a boy, dont judge- and I reaklized how sad i trully was on the inside.
they were short but here are a couple:
'Never have i seen my soul,
But I know it has fallen into a dark hole.'
'My heart and mind are one,
Until my whole life is done.'
i have been writting poerty ever since i could hold a pin when i learned that the papper would listen to me and that i could creat something beutifull i took it and ran with it now here iam publishing hubs and getting ready to publish my first poem book
I get much comfort as well as enjoy writing poetry- and began keeping jornals of poems when I was in Middle School. I am not sure how one defines themselves a poet but I write what feels right and I write what is held in my heart---but I think all that actually does is make me a writer who writes with her emotions.
Regardless I wrote my first poem when I was 7 or 8 years old- it was about being mad about having to go to bed early.
Mom said No
I said why
She said because it is your bedtime
She said don’t cry
I said why
She said because I lied
I got mad
I got sad
And mom watched TV with dad
Not quite a poem I would think to write these days, but for a kid…it spoke from the heart
well, not sure if i am a poetry writer more into stories. but lol my first poem was about escalators....no idea how i managed that

Have you ever written a song or poem for someone?I have thought about doing these things, but I lack the artistic expression that others posses. Unless you classify sarcasm as art.

I love you oh so muchThat my heart craves your touchEvery second of the day I think of your waysThe way you kiss my foreheadAnd the way you make my cheeks get redThe way you hold me closeAnd the way you nudge my noseBut most of all when I look into you eyesI see our love and a future full of bright...

MG Singh wrote a hub on gun control in the U.S. There are a lot of comments on it. I also wrote a comment, with my opinion (which had its origins in a research paper I wrote for a public health class a couple of years ago).Jackburton had already written a comment that was almost a hub in itself....
