What is your favorite poem or prose that you wrote?
Mine is the first prose I wrote, in 1971. It is titled, 'The Universe is You.'
Mine, I wrote on Hub Pages this past year, entitled"When", you might read it when you can. whonu
My favorite poem that I wrote is Butterfly the little fairy. I sometimes rename it if it goes into the idle status.
I've just started writing songs again after a break of ten years. These are heavily lyric-based - strong poetry and storyline... and every one of them is my favorite as I write it, and when I sing it. I can't have an absolute favorite - it's like having a favorite child. But maybe, just maybe - the best is yet to be written - but then of course I would have no reason to continue.
Good point and great sharing. Thanks.
It is my first poem on the hubpages: 'The Scattered Images in My Mind' and it is still gets great responses, I have done something great with that one, but who knows what, it was written two years ago:)
I've got heaps of old writing, including some poetry and short stories which should be deleted at other internet sites so I can publish them here, but I can't really think of a favorite among those.
My favorite Hub is "The Compassionate Ant". And despite the title, it's not fiction!
Mine is called "Pink Champagne" and was originally a poem I wrote in high school for a project that went on to win first place in a poetry contest {locally of course}. I haven't published it to Hubpages though because I have it up on one or two other sites {if I remember correctly}.
Anywho, it has always probably been about the ONLY poem I like that I've written given the exception of "At The Breath of a Heartbeat" that IS here on Hubpages. :3
It was about a local farmer who handed me a bunch of sunflower seeds.
" you think they' ll grow
The best seed I know that sprouts
Just put them in the earth
They need little care.
But I checked. Not a sign to be seen
Through the rain and rabbits eating
I took more seeds and did some weeding.
Summer came. Tall bendy stems
Still mot one bloom
Plenty of rain that July
By August first I saw a yellow eye
Open, open wider each day.
Lovely girls indeed.
These smiling faces.
Looking back at the seed.
From the hand a gift.
From God a true delight.
And in a gesture of joy
I gave the seeds back
There were many to go around.
From one kind deed,
From one small seed
It was a gift of suns.
Once started.
The gift was passed on"

How did you know when your poetry really "took off" and that you would be writing more.Do you like poetry writing more than writing prose? and why?

Have you ever written a song or poem for someone?I have thought about doing these things, but I lack the artistic expression that others posses. Unless you classify sarcasm as art.
