What are books which are made into movies or a TV series that are close to the REAL story?
I've noticed a lot of book buffs who, after watching the movie of the book they've read and liked, claim it to be a "failure" What do you think makes it such?
It is like that because once Hollywood gets hold of stories, horns start sprouting from the directors's heads and they start to fall prey to their aspiring author feelings. The overall effect is inferior stage plays.
To be fair, stories have to be condensed, but not too much, the narritive description in books is visual in films, it is fooling around with dialogue and story that causes the problem.
Yes the corruption of the entertainment industry does destroy the story of many great books turned cinema... but some good ones that didn't murder the book include Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Stand By Me and the Outsiders. All of which are great books and movies.
The movie "Breakfast at Tiffinys" is almost word for word the book. Even the dyalogue it the same
