Well, alot of things inspire me:) Poetry is how I rid myself of my anger, that's why most of my poetry is a bit dark. I hope my answer satisfied you:)
Your question assumes that one who would answer necessarily writes intensely. If I have any claim to such a thing it has more to do with knowing your subject and the dedication one has to bringing it to a vivid sense for the reader. The more graphic you are in this respect usually translates into a natural intensity that can be magnified at will.
