Who does dominate the modernist movement in poetry?

Helen Vendler, a leading scholar of American poetry said:"Publishing womething in short lines doesn't make the writer a poet, it only makes him or her a person with writing of short lines." Poets ought to be judged on the quality of their poem and not on their attitudes towards people.
A great poet, despite his or her dubiours political views, with the literary briliance, originality and literary influence still will dominate  such as Amiri Baraka. And yet Baraka poetry has little value in and of itself. 'His poems that kill' are the words of a powerful communicator but not of a poet.

here lies one talking head badmouthing another poet. Hardly a revelation or much of a question. I am not sure that there are many outside of the Ivy league professors with enough spare time to look the matter up and even in such cases they probably disagree heatedly over this subject at tea time.
