Write with a pen and paper. It may seem incredibly monotonous. But when you're transcribing, you'll have the opportunity to reread everything and revise as you go.

The major benefit to doing things this way is that the almighty Internet cannot distract you! Stay far away from computers!

    What was the question again?

Seriously, to not try to fight it.  Go with where it takes you.  My greatest success is when I find a place like a coffee shop or bookstore, where there's a certain din of life surrounding me - the white noise is more effective than being alone with no distractions.  And then, write what comes to you.  Let it flow.  Don't judge.  When you start to lose focus, accept that, have a humorous attitude toward it, and then gently direct your energy back to the paper.

    Does that help?

First, don't use a computer (initially). Use a pen and legal pad. Second, spend your spare time reading--not watching tv or doing anything on the internet. Third, don't get married or have children.
