I think writers are like musicians or artists, they have a gift for it, What do you think?
It is what it is
I think that some have a natural gift, but I also think it can be taught to someone who has the interest and desire to learn how to do it properly. And of course there is a certain artistry to individual writing style.
I had to take a fine arts class in college, a drawing class. I told the teacher I didn't have any real talent for drawing. She told me talent is just one small part of the process, that and attention to detail. The rest was just learning the skill of drawing what you see and what you envision.
But there are those that are gifted, that stand out, whose talent is made brilliant by skill. I think people can learn the craft of artistry, but it is talent that can be the drive to go beyond the skill.
Everyone has a gift at whatever they do. On Hubpages, many have a gift to write and have to work at it. I believe everyone is the same when it comes to following their passion. I think our innate drive(s) to go with whatever field(s) we are working in is driven by our innate gift for understanding that field. This goes with writing, music, painting, engineering, etc. in my opinion.
Hello Diane,
I agree with you. These artistic talents are natural gifts. I used to write my own music and lyrics. It would have been hard if I would not have had some talent in the first place. I believe there are some things that one cannot learn. And I believe this is great because this way we are all different and we can achieve great things with our individual talents.

Why do you write? Why is it important for artist to make art and for writers to write?Do you think, we as writers, artists, musicians make a difference to our world?I, for one, did not grow up in an environment that encourages and rewards creativity. In my world, it seems far more important to have...

What's more important? Image or talent? It seems like the music artists today focus more on their image than their music. For me I believe someone with musical talent should be appreciated more than the female pop star singer with little clothing. Do you believe a music artist's image (like Justin...

For those who agree with me: where have all the talented musicians gone!?It seems as though music is getting worse as time goes on... What explanation(s) is(are) there for this depressing talent-drought in the music industry?
