How do I promote my novelette?
I have a Christian romance novelette that I have published with Create space and on for Kindle. How do I promote it other than through social media and links?
Hi Cardisa, congratulations on your book! It is quite an ambitious undertaking, no matter how many pages, and you did it! I use Ezine articles to promote my hubs, my novel, even my academic papers. Google loves Ezine because they are hand edited, and that means a little waiting, about 5 days I think, to get them published, but it is worth the wait.
Ezine articles: Write 100, 500 word articles on how to write a novel, novelette, how to write romance in a Christian genre, or anything that has some relationship to your novelette and at the bottom, Ezine articles gives you a space for your "link" to your product, page, where ever you want people to "click" on. Cardisa, it is worth looking into. As a writer, you can easily write countless articles to attract people to your book. Good luck!
You might want to try Smashwords. I published a story on there last month. You can self publish for free on that website. If your novellette makes it into the premium catalog, Smashwords will ship it to other vendors like Apple and Barnes and Noble. Congrats on finishing your story! I know from experience how difficult and time consuming that is!
Smashwords is good but I had better success with Booktango. Its free and pretty good with payments, albeit their site seems to freeze every so often.
Ezine is a great way to get people to follow a link to the publisher.
Good luck and congrats!!!
I have promoted my books (traditionally published, self-published, and Kindle) the following ways:
1) I developed a mailing list and sent postcards with the novel's cover on them; 2) I had bookmarks made cheaply (somewhere online ... can't remember!) and distributed them to local bookstores; 3) I created two free websites (the ones with all the ads) before splurging on a Purehost.com account ($19.95/month US), and I maintain that site religiously; 4) I established a presence at Goodreads.com as both a reader and a writer--I even set up an account for my pseudonym! 5) My pseudonym has a Facebook account with friends, too; 6) I have an extensive e-mail list of fans who have written to me, and I keep them in the loop when a book is coming out; 7) I used to have an HTML newsletter that I sent out monthly--those were such a hassle to create, and many people unsubscribed; 8) I have created press kits and mailed them to all local media (TV, radio, newspaper, websites) and bookstores--occasionally they interview me or ask me to do book talks and/or signings.
Mostly, I talk about my upcoming books ... as you are doing right now.
