Has anyone submitted their creative writing to one of the Glimmer Train contests?
If so, what was the result? I'd love to hear if anyone has been published in either one of the contests or standard submissions.
I submitted one time, just for their Short Story contest, I think. Didn't win anything. I think it's like $15 per submission, too.
Glimmer Train is a hard market to crack if you don't have any previousy publishing credits, an MFA degree in creative writing from a prestigious school, or contacts with established literary writers. Although they say they judge each story on its own merits and not on the author's connections and CV, the odds are really stacked against the unknown writer. You might want to get a few publishing credits in easier markets first so you have something to put in a cover letter. Not trying to be a downer, just a realist. Best of luck to you and I hope you win.
