Which is better? Writing for a site such as Hubpages or freelancing for Web publications for a fee?
You have to balance freedom of choice against deadlines and earnings potential. On HubPages you can write about what you know, what you are passionate about, and write the hub in your own time. For some writers this is paramount. Being free to choose the topic is all important too, because then you can concentrate on a niche area and build up a following or a core nucleus of hubs.
Freelancing can be a very stressful occupation. You not only have a deadline to meet, you have a word count and probably a keyword target which can be irritating.
Writing about something you're not interested in personally takes it out of you in time and the standards can start to drop. You see this all over the internet - budget articles pumped out at speed which often means bad grammar, weak sentence structure and an unreadable text.
To be a successful freelancer means having a thick skin and hardened attitude. Some manage it but they have to work long hours churning out stuff on any topic- not a job I could sustain! Plus, the fees aren't that great if the work is online. Magazines and newspapers pay much more.
HubPages allows you freedom but you won't become wealthy overnight, or even make a decent monthly income for the first few months (unless you're very savvy).
Thanks.I had been a print freelancer many years ago, and got burnt out from churning out stuff I didn,t care about just for the money . I make a bit of coin here, had to lear seo etc, but do write what I want, and pay the bills doing other things.

Another hubber, DrMark1961 asked if Hubbing could be a full time job, which got my attention. I have always wanted to be a full time writer, and while I know that Hubpages is not going to give me a hefty pay out what with the google adsense and all that other malarkey taking chunks out (as other...

I feel concerned that the reason google may prefer ehow as opposed to hubpages, is because there is an abundance of poetry and short stories. I am not by any means saying that those who publish the short stories and poetry are not good, but they are not usually searchable or high market. I...

I often see forum posts about how the site is 'dying', or asking why people would continue writing here after they've earned success on their own websites. So I thought I'd start a thread about WHY people still write here. To start, here are some of my reasons (I haven't written much in the past...

I was always thrilled each time I was notified of new followers. Oooh - I have five followers! Twenty! Thirty! I was so green. With the help...

I have been thinking of leaving HubPages for a while now because of several reasons. With their latest ebay/amazon update I now have to reformat over 90 hubs (Some had not been published yet and I was waiting for Halloween). Rather than doing this I will use my time looking for a site and...
