From where does your main inspiration come when writing?
I'm just curious as to what inspires different writers and from where does their inspiration come?
Not sure if I am answering this right.
If you are meaning ideas, I get those from everyday life and books I read. Conversations. One word can just stick with me and I need to go with it.
Hi wetnosedogs, yes, from where does your inspiration or ideas to write come . . . I knew you would say books, with your many wonderful book reviews, but what about Roscoe? Ha. Thanks for sharing from where your inspiration comes here.
Yes, Roscoe is a gem as all my dogs are. Couldn't do this without Roscoe and his furry friends!
Yes, Roscoe is truly a gen. And all can see how hard he works along with you in writing your delightful hubs no doubt!
Anything that has caused me pain, or the beauty of life, or things that have transformed my life. If I don't care about it, I can't write about it!
Hi Mrs Jil Manning, that is exactly where my inspiration comes too, my true life experiences. Thanks so much for answering the question.
I find that the source for my inspiration comes from all sorts of places. The first, being my brain. My poetry is developed from feelings in my mind and heart and it could be stress, love, happiness, fear or just about any emotion felt.
I also think I find a great deal of ideas coming from nature and the nature of people and how they interact with each other. This can be positive or negative depending upon the situation. Nature writing is interesting and often generates some really great poetry because I truly feel and appreciate the gift we have living in all the beauty of nature.
I would say the biggest inspiration I have is from my children and what they do.
Great question!
Hi cre8ivOne, those are certainly great inspirations no doubt, especially your precious children - non-stop inspiration there I can relate!
Like many, my sources of inspiration are many and varied. All of the past experiences of my wife, my observations as a former news reporter, current events, special historical events which come to mind and occasionally an inspirational thought. I do not have to be in a certain place with proper surroundings, ideas come to me very often. Unfortunately, my time for writing has been limited for the past months.
I wait and see if any inspiration arises from my silent sitting meditation, and it usually does. Sometimes, I receive topic ideas from dreams, as examples, http://quirinus.hubpages.com/hub/Aspect … le-Destiny and http://quirinus.hubpages.com/hub/Soul-a … Experience .
Thanks for asking!
Hello Quirinus, yes, being still and quiet will certainly bring on much inspiration for me too. Thank!
My inspiration comes from many places. From dreams. From daily life.. From listening to people I know. From reading books. From looking at art. From doing things with my hands. From research and study. From Nature. And I suppose simply from the fact that I love so many different things that I am always trying out ideas.
Often those ideas have a chain reaction. Researching one idea will lead to another, which leads to a project, which leads to an idea...
Thanks Sharkye11, Yes, there is just so much inspiration all around us no doubt! I appreciate you answering and sharing.
My inspiration mirrors Sharkye11's. I often find it from daily life, faith, art, photos, etc.
Thanks teaches! I appreciate you sharing here.
My inspiration comes from passion. When we write from what we are passionate about , the writing has power. It is not just read it is felt. If we just write to write, the writing seems flat or lacking something.
Hi suzzcue, you are so right about that, it does have power when we write about what we are passionate about! Thanks so much for the great answer.
Hi Faith,
Wonderful question...briefly, from my life experiences, good and bad...and life lessons learned from wise and good people in my life...Mom, Dad, teachers, so many...from being still and allowing the peace and clarity of my mind to take over or to take in the beauty of God's nature.
Hi Maria, thanks for sharing from where your inspiration comes to write! Yes, write about what we know, experience, and I love how you have written here about allowing the peace and clarity of your mind . . . how lovely!
My inspiration comes from within. I can't explain the feeling but its the blend of what I like, enjoy, wish and believe. Its through writing that I can share many things I find beautiful and helpful for everybody. My love for all things simple and old-fashioned, though, has what I consider the spice that gave flavor to my passion. Writing is an inspiration to share a little of me prove to the world how little things make a difference... I hope :...
Lovely question, Faith. Thank you.
Hi Tonipet, lovely answer and a great reason to write. Thanks for expressing it in such an intimate manner, we all can relate to, or I know I can relate. Yes, writing is the ultimate in sharing of oneself.
My main inspiration comes from objectively understanding what my own needs are, expecially when I am seeking out information.
As an example, I recently wanted to find out if I could read my hubs using an RSS feed. It turns out that I could, but finding the information was quite difficult. Because I thought that was something other people might find useful, I turned it into a hub.
In terms of inspiration in the writing process itself, I tend to approach it back to front, starting with 'What would I, as a reader, like to get out of this'? I then think about the various questions they might have an try to make sure that my text answers those questions.
Hi Paul Maplesden, thanks so much for sharing your very interesting inspirations to write. I appreciate you answering the question!

Why do you write? Is writing your passion in life, or do you just write in an attempt to purely make money, or both? Or is there another reason you write?

What specific steps do you take when you experiencing writer's block?I have found myself stuck in this lately. New ideas, and even the joy of writing seems stale to me. Have you gone through this, and how what proactivity did you use during this period. Thank you for your response
