Anybody tired of the constant change  around hubpages yet ?

What is with this "new normal" of constant change on hubpages ?  My hubscore is dropping like a gas guage in a dodge  truck ! Kinda makes me want to score hubs !

    Hello my friend.
I know how you feel, my hub score is falling like a free-fall sky diver.
I can understand that not everyone likes my work, the same as I can't possibly like all that I read. It just ain't my kind of stuff, but as you say with all these changes, they now tell me some of what I consider to be very good work has been unfeatured quality/views. Last week I deleted a lot of my hubs and now have another twenty that have just come under the axe of which I will be deleting and moving to another site. I feel that the way HP is heading it won't belong before they start to struggle with their membership. Sad as this was a very good web-site.
    LOL Ghaelach

well actually if more hubbers visited others hubs ..this site would be prospering ..but because it is not your type of writing or what you want to read this in turn hurts others scores because  and starts a downward spiral that affects all

      @ cleaner3
True in what you say, but I read all my hub mail each day.  I only get around 25/30 visits a day so I'm reading more hubs than I get visits. Seems the balance is way out.

Honestly, I stopped giving a @#$% quite a while ago. I have never earned much here so I quit worrying about my traffic, Google rankings, SEO, yadda yadda yadda ages ago.
I continue to post stuff because it's a hobby and it's fun. I refuse to get stressed about all the "new" changes and tweaks to the site.

I think "growing pains" are a part of change, but HP was to a point it had to make changes due to all the damage it sustained with the Panda and penguin slaps. I see the HP staff doing everything it can to make the site thrive again like it once did, and I am happy to work through some changes in order for hubs to stay profitable and grow again.

HP isn't just changing for the sake of change. The internet itself is changing constantly and HP is keeping up with the times and doing what it can to keep its business profitable.

Take a look at what the others around you are saying and just accept the fact they are tanking. I mean Will Starr for God's sake??

Those of us working with the changes and requirements are not tanking and the whole point of improving the site is to bring it back up. Status quo doesn't equate to growth. Change is hard sometimes, but necessary.

Tell that to 99% of the people on this site. People are leaving in droves. Even Simone has left the building... lol

Simone started her own company. 99% of people aren't leaving and for those who do leave, others will sign up. Sorry, but we don't make the rules here. Writing of mine that doesn't fit here, I publish elsewhere instead of complaining.

Afraid to speak the truth because yo may lose a hubber point or two?? And yes, people are leaving and joining democratic sites. Not communist sites like this one. Oh, and do you get pet points for reporting so many questions??

I don't find fault with what they want to be, but it is not a site for pure writers. It's a site for those who like to employ keywords and understand things like SEO's in order to attract traffic.

I'm not complaining. I'm just withdrawing.

I haven't reported any questions - why are you being so hostile? My score is due to the quality of my hubs and hard work. I am speaking the truth as I see it, no need to be rude because someone doesn't agree with you. You started in on me.

My hubscore fell from 99 to 88 in one day. I have two hubs that have been featured since they started using that acronym that are not featured because they say they have no pictures. I added one, it didn't even show pictures. I added two more and it still says there are no pictures. People said the pictures were pixelated, so I shrunk them down to quarter size, still no go. It is the one about Will Starr.

    1. WillStarr profile image81
WillStarrposted 11 years agoin reply to this

My Hubscore is 81, and most of my work is no longer featured because it is 'substandard'.  My highest rated Hub is a lowly 78, and the lowest is 41.

lorlie6posted 11 years agoin reply to this

My score is lower than ever now, as well.  I think that they're over their heads with this featured/nonfeatured business, as well.  Becky, I have a hub and pretty much went through the same thing with them that you did.  I almost gave up.

  8. Diana Lee profile image79

I joined HP for the practice and inspiration. The tiny amount of money earned by what little traffic I get does not defend me because I knew from the get go I could only devote part time to this hobby. I actually had a hub score of 100 awhile back and have no idea, why or why it fell. Today is the first I have drifted below 90 in months. I don't know why this has happened either.  It would take a mastermind much brighter than my own to figure out what goes on here or why all these changes occur, so I gave up trying to.  I do know after letting long periods of time go by without posting my poetry here finally a poem had a chance to be recognized.  I may post more poetry again like I enjoyed doing when I first joined HP. This still in my opinion is one of the best writing sites on the internet. I'll stay here as long as I'm able to.

ED.....The fast-dropping "Hubber Score," is due to the CHANGES HP made.......according to them:  In response to the many many complaints from Hubbers, precisely about "the Hubber Score" not being SPECIFIC on how they arrive at each Hubber's Score and/or WHAT it reflects.  Well guess what?  We're STILL not going to know what this score reflects....we're just going to watch it plummet.
Does that tell you anything, loudly & clearly?   They would like us to cease and desist, flooding them with our questions, concerns and "complaints," about HOW THEY DO THINGS AROUND HERE. I personally, don't GET how they do anything here.  I guess we're not allowed to be privy to any of it.    OK.
In other words, they're telling us, "Children should be seen and not heard."   This is our punishment.  Give it a few days.  Everyone, (except the big money makers, of course)....should see their Hubber Score, PLUMMET!   and now that I've commented.......mine will soon be  "25," I'm sure.   No big deal.....then I just LEAVE, the same way I came in.
All I seem to read anymore.....is how totally unhappy Hubbers are with so much.  We simply have no power or control, so it's stupid to bitch.   I never bothered to complain.  I knew it was futile.   Good luck.

Critics are useful, theory is beneficial only when practice accompanies it.  So, when we create art (and writing is art), whether it is drawing, sculpting, painting or composing music, it is normal to wonder what others think of our work.  I can see why someone's score on HubPages makes them feel forgotten, but do yourself, and all of us a favor, and spend all of your energy striving to produce what you love - but never fail to include (in the syntax) what you love about the written word.

Language itself changes, so you must evolve with the ebb and flow of communication - that must include such an auspicious forum as HubPages and its necessary evolution as well.  If we don't change, and learn to accept it, then we are living [ dying ] in the past.  DIE NOW, die daily, and die to your self.  Write for the flow of the language, the inherent beauty of communication - and most of all - write to YOURSELF.  Who knows better what you are trying to communicate than you?  So, when you scribe, scribe as though you are the recipient.  You'll discover that you are changing from day to day anyway, and you'll find that as you change, so does your reasoning along with your reason for writing.

Hubpages is a virtual location; it's judges and its data analysis - shifting - none of which are the end or the beginning:  the end all be all.  Both it, its progenitor, and its predecessors (those who maintain its continuity) are not the same as they were yesterday.  If everyone remained the same, time would freeze, people would be stoic and bored, suffer from boredom - freeze from the cold of self isolation:  thinking themselves to be permanent when in truth they are already dying.

Die, and die to your self.  Die to the notion that today should be as before, as yesterday.  The Russians have a great saying: "tomorrow will be better".  If it was the same as today, could there be such a deduction? - such a conclusion?  And how many of us writers have come to a conclusion, only to realize that we believe and think differently than we did yesterday?

On the morrow, we shall be better.  If our score drops, though, that might be because we are progressing much, much faster than those who make decisions as to whether our HUBS are worth a penny.

In the end, as it were, our score might reflect that we writers have outgrown our critics.  Ultimately, it is for us to decide.  Why, because I write 2 myself, 4 myself.

I agree with what I am experiencing and learning as everyone shares here. I stopped writing hubs and answered questions at length receiving more views on those than at my hubs per Google. I get more views when I deleted in blocks than I did when I post any kind of an article. Odd, eh?

I guess that says something about my writing abilities said with a giggle. I researched seeking patterns until blue in the face and deleted near 100 hubs and my hubber score is less than now. Hub scores are less than now. And views are less than  now.. I went back to writing poetry and am looking at weebly. I have less time now and I have learned more reading this question and answer section than I have in the last month or so what is occurring at HP.

Thanks, I learned much and now will focus on the home front challenges rather than diligence with hubbing until . . .
