Can You Write In More Than One Genre?
I've always written in one genre, but I also want to pursue writing in a completely unrelated (to the first) genre. I'm going to do this under a pen-name to distance one from the other, but I'm curious to see if other writers have done this, and if so, what results did you have? Did you use a pen-name or not?
I don't use a pen name, but I dabble in novel writing, poetry, short stories, and non-fiction articles like here on Hubpages.
That's a good point, actually - going between different kinds of writing isn't that different from different genres, so that makes sense. Thanks for the comment, Michaela!

What are your thoughts on this? I do use a pen name and I'm really torn about it. On the one hand it's convenient so that my private/public life are kept separate and I find I don't have to censor myself while writing. On the other hand, I sometimes wonder if I am not cheating...

Do you write with a pen or a computer? When my husband first suggested around 1990 that I use a computer for writing, I cried when I tried. I told him the thoughts got from my head to the paper through my pen and I resisted. So for all these years I tied myself to the computer. Only...

Is it best to use a pen name or your real name on HP, and how easy is it to change your user name?I am considering a change of name here on HP, and wondering what the implications would be. Has anybody done it, or have an opinion about it?
