“It’s only after you’ve stepped outside your comfort zone that you begin to change, grow, and transform.”

I never understood the obsession with a lack of comfort, nor the idea that you cannot learn and grow in a comfortable way. If every step of learning were uncomfortable, we'd see much more failures in the world. Heck, every country in the world might look like a third-world or less if it were impossible to provide change, growth, and transformation in a comfortable setting.
The pinnacle of society is comfort, and it is a goal to strive for. Although, it must be said that discomfort is its own source of novel inspiration. Meh, either way, it is all in the eyes of the beholder. Quotes very seldom hit the mark of reality for me; give it to me cold and harsh, and only then will a quote pierce my heart to its core.
I don't agree that the pinnacle of society is comfort. In my world, facing and overcoming challenges is most important.
I can only say I've learned the most things from facing the most difficult circumstances. When you are in a situation where you have to think, really think or bad things will happen, you find things out about yourself. I like backpacking and it can be really challenging at times. Especially when you go off-trail like I prefer. Challenging yourself to endure difficult situations and succeed gives you an extreme level of confidence. I learned a lot from being in the Army and facing those challenges. I believe if you only seek comfort, you will only know that which brings you comfort. You will be limited. When you can handle challenging situations, your abilities broaden and you can go, do and see many more things that others may not be able to experience.
If people only sought comfort, Mt. Everest would have never been climbed, people would never participate in the Alaskan Iditarod or train for marathons. There may have not been space exploration as that is very uncomfortable. It are the people who face the difficult and uncomfortable situations who have provided the most to society.
Yes, I agree, Readmikenow
Thanks for sharing your views and opinions, I Respect you
as you said you were in the army and have learned a lot from there
I can surely imagine the sufferings and challenges you have faced
Blessings to you, Sir
Everything you have said provides a comfort of its own, and thus is the pinnacle of society, as I stated. I seek comfort in training every other day, for if I do not train then my body and mind will be weak; the challenge itself is exhausting, but the strength it builds brings comfort, thus I did not have to leave my comfort zone to grow. If the individuals climbing Everest do not train, they will never know the comfort of having conquered Everest.
Perhaps you have a narrow view of comfort, because your definition of struggle is what I call comfort. I just don't like the overall idea of the quote, it is idealistic, I'd like it more if it said something like:
"You can prop yourself up on the backs of others, or you can take the world by your own hand. It isn't important how you made it to your destination, only that you keep going forward."
I mean, just look at many of the limp-wrists in high society (the place most Americans aim for, or envy in some way); many of their struggles would be considered my comfort zone, and yet if I were to face those struggles comfortably I could still grow exponentially without being uncomfortable. Sure, I could be more, "rah rah living isn't hard enough, give me more struggle," but then I'd be just as tired as my competitors at the end of the race.
Case in point: The pinnacle of society is being able to learn and grow in such a way you do not have to step out of your comfort zone, but can be better than the rest regardless.
Dear Kyler,
It's not like that I disagree with what you said. People do learn in their comfort zone, but, honestly speaking, very few of them learn and apply what they have learned somewhere else later in life and it is limited. People say broken hearts do good poetry--. Yes, they do. But it is never said that a person whose heart has never been broken cannot be a poet---. Right?
In 29 years of my life, I have seen good and comfortable times. And I have faced hard, and uncomfortable times, too-- based on my experience, I could go wrong, but I have learned a lot from my bad times. It's never like I have not learned anything from good times in a comfortable zone.
As Readmikenow said, we are limited when we are in comfort, but when we jump out of our comfort zone, we learn more and better, we explore more.
I read one thread of yours on forums where you said you want to write something on Brenda's word prompt, but you are not able to write something on the prompt" Majestic"
It's a challenge, right? You are preparing yourself for this challenge. It is to get out of the comfort zone and you are already doing it, my friend, and you are doing it well.
All we have is fear
1. Fear of Change
2. Fear of Losing
3. This task is too big
4. I can’t do this alone.
5. I don’t know where to start so I won’t do it, etc...
Every one of us has these fears I too have and that's absolutely normal.
The Buddha also went beyond his comfort zone to be enlightened. In fact, he had put everything on the gamble. It was a big challenge: No? (That's what I think)
Leaving a comfort zone can be big or small, like
1.Watch a movie with subtitles.
2. Try a new recipe.
3. Connect with new people and those who inspire you.
4. Do little things with the opposite hand once a week as it connects all parts of your brain.
5. Learn a new language or skill.
6. Talk on the phone while walking on the treadmill.
7. Walk on a different path to the store or the office.
I think whenever we do something new, we learn something new — do you agree?
Your message on a poetry forum inspired me, shows that you were out of your comfort zone to learn. This is what you said,
Imagine a black horse, and it is running through a dew-laden field at sunrise. The sky is clear, and the air is getting crisper with every breath you take. Just as the steed passes over the horizon, you smell the breakfast your lover made. Now that, my friend, is majestic."
I loved the way you write and then you said you google it further
This means you were out of your comfort zone and were trying to do something good and new. A challenge always keeps us alive, what do you think?
I appreciate your comment. The way you ask why people think the way, as mentioned in the quote, shows you are eager to learn more. My friend, you are already out of your comfort zone.
Stay happy and blessed always
Peace and Blessings
Not going to lie to you here, I'm not reading all that. Shorten it out for me, please.
That way Maybe, you won't understand what I want to say or maybe I will fail to do so
well, I can precise like this

No way, lol, learning is the only comfort zone I have. If my mind and body stop learning for even a second, that's when I'm out of my comfort zone. I rip my life to pieces when my mind becomes stagnant, and thus I can't relate to the idea that growth requires stepping out of the comfort zone.
I'm most at ease in conflict, in struggle, in evolution; life would be misery unending if it were not so. Give me comfort, or give me death.

Why are some people afraid to step out of their comfort zone and try new things? Are they really afraid to try out something different or just not bothered about gaining new knowledge.

What inspires you to do something totally out of your comfort zone? When was the last time you did?Sometimes jumping out of our comfort zone is tough. What inspires you to take that first step and what did you do the last time you did?

'Change' is the only constant thing. Then why people are not comfortable with 'Changes'?

Why we create comfort zones and then find it difficult to come out of it?It is well known that living in the comfort zone for too long limits growth and sets in boredom and dissatisfaction. I wonder why living comfort zone is hard for many people.
