Color walls with brighter color's and try to make your place clutter free...avoid adding too much furniture's
it would be helping if you installing one side of walls with mirrors , as i did too .
If you paint the ceiling in a lighter color then the walls it will make it look taller and less stuffy, like in my a room in my home my walls are a type of brownish tan... (the color is called Carpenters Puddy) and the ceiling is white.
You need to decorate with light colors vs dark colors and open your blinds or curtains so that the sun can shine in.
