What five things will you plant in your winter garden?

Now is a good time to start the winter gardening process.  What will you plant and how do you decide what to plant for your winter gardens?

Unfortunately, I live in the frozen north and we do not have any living plants in the garden from mid October - mid April. I have thought about planting Hellebore, because they bloom in early to mid March!

Being in Wyoming, my winter garden will consist of an iced-over luge run as soon as enough snow flies -- we're already hitting freezing some nights, so another month or so ought to do it wink.

I have planted radishes, beets, spinach, mesculun lettuce and sugar snap peas. They're coming along nicely.

For winter I planted leeks, purple sprouting broccoli and parsnips. i only have 3 things not 5! It is the first year I have tried to grow winter veg in my container garden.

The parsnips look great, the broccoli plant looks fantastic but is green and not sprouting and my leeks look like they are struggling.
