Could a poor seal around a freezer cause it to be at a constant 28° F?
There is a loose seal on one corner of my freezer, but is that enough to cause such a rise in temperature?
No, it couldn't. the outside temperature is very large in number. It continues to give a its temperature to the freezer body that will affect the temperature within freezer. There is no material (at least household material) that can completely isolate against outside temperatures. There is no way to keep 100% constant temperatur.
