When exactly, should lettuces be planted outside in North Texas?

    When exactly, should lettuces be planted outside in North Texas?

    I've seen answers ranging from right now to late fall to March.

    I Don't know about Texas, but here in England there are some letuces that we can plant out all year, preferably in the autumn, they sprout then hold over winter and fire away in the spring, I believe there are also some that can be sown at this time of year.  Best bet is to rumage through the seed packets to see what they say.
