Does planting mint around the house really ward off ants?

I've heard about the trick with cinnamon (I have found sometimes it works, other times it does not) but I have never tried the mint trick. I know mint spreads like crazy when it's planted, so I want to make sure it really works.

I would not do it!  Mint invades and takes over every flower bed and everything around your house.  I even have it growing in the stone driveway...Can't get rid of it......it does not work for ants.......still have those too!

Cucumbers are better. It's better for the soil and ants cannot stand the skins. All you would have to do is peel a few and leave the skins where they enter your house or even at the ant hills.

I once saw a video about ants - and it said to put out Grits (uncooked) on the sidewalk and they will gorge themselves on them - bloat - and die fat & happy.
Just sweep up.  I hope it works.
