Why is there sometimes a loud knocking noise when one turns on a water tap?
this is easy. the pipes are not fastened down. usually when this happens there is no fasteners holdong a pipe down to the wall. every few feet there needs to be a wall fastener to keep this from happening. to stop this just find the pipe by having reaching in and seeing which one is loose and buying a tie snad fasten it down
The valve of the tap is out of order and jumps up and down on its seating. Every time it touches the seating the flow is suddenly checked, causing a rise of pressure which produces a knock in the pipe.
