What kind of "to do" lists do you make?

What do you put on your "to do" list?
    Do you put deadlines?
Or do you simply scratch things off when you are done?

The to do lists I use are usually between 3 - 5 items. Unfortunately I keep that list in my mind too many times. Not good if recall is not at peak performance. Then add to as time goes along, with focus only on those 3 - 5. I can always think up something when the list runs low. The question is of focus vs. spontaneity.

I'm kind of the same way when it comes to mental to do lists. I find it works better with short term to do lists.

Hello joanwz. I agree. I use radiant thinking more than linear. A list of three is a triangle and five is a star or pentagon. They both are polygons. The star adds complexity and enough most say. Ponder the American Flag and series. 5,50,10, etc

It depends. If the week is extremely busy, I will have a to-do list for one day when everything will get done. If not so busy, the task is usually on the daily calendar. Either way, just putting a line through the task is extremely satisfying. If there is a deadline for a task, I write it down a day early to make sure it's done in time.

I find I do this sometimes as well, where I keep the to do list when I need one, but simply jotting down tasks on a calender during quieter times. THanks for thiis answer iburmaster.

I use to-do lists for everything and I try to rank the items in importance to help with time management and prioritize my time.  For things that are really important I use posit notes on my mirror in my bathroom so I am reminded in the morning.

Good points khmazz. Hadn't thought about posting a list on my mirror.

I have a to do list for everything. I used to write it down but then it bothered me so now I am not allowed to write out the list but it is always present. From HubPages items to website items to client items to work items to clothing to household, my list never ends.

I used to always do returns on Tuesdays - stated timeframe, now I am aiming for ironing on Tuesdays.

My lists are daily, weekly, monthly and of course annually for those dreaded things called taxes.

My lists are ALWAYS prioritized. But I must say I enjoy HubPages so that one usually is my warm-up and cool-down - just too enjoyable being here.

Great answer. Breaking it down by time frame is a great idea. THanks.
