my babys due in 2 feb will i still get tax credit for this child as i do my other children i am...
single parent and not sure how it works out from next year.
If your baby is born before you file taxes and have a social security number then you can claim however check with you state guidelines in some states you can only claim only two or three children. If you can hold out until you have your children before filing and get a social security number then you will get more money back .
If your baby is due on Feb. 2nd of 2011, then you will get the child tax credit when you file your 2011 tax return, which will be in early 2012.
We are getting ready to file our 2010 tax returns, so if you baby is due in 2011, you won't get the credit on this tax return.
Congrats on the new baby!

I know for the tax credit the child must be under 17. Does it make a difference if the child is...still in school after 17. I heard it continues after 17 if the child is still in school (college)?
