Are there "tiny houses" available in Tucson, AZ. and how do I find the cost?
I am a low income senior living alone in Tucson, AZ. I am interested in the "tiny houses" I have read about, but can't find any contact information.
Yes, I think you can find something very small. In this part of the world they are called casitas. In Spanish that means "small house". A casita is usually a part of a complex and usually on one floor. They are available in Green Valley, AZ which is located south of Tucson. If you do a google search enter "casita for sale Tucson AZ." You fill find agencies that sell them.
Though the "Tiny House" movement is gaining momentum it is still difficult to find Tiny homes for sale. Plans and Tiny home builders can be found across the Net such as Tumbleweed homes.com, naturalpapa.com, tinyhouseblog.com.
The closest Tiny Home builders are in Phoenix but they only build to order without any surplus on hand.
My wife and I are in the process of building our own Tiny House on wheels using a Big Tex "18 Ft. equipment trailer as the foundation. (Approx. 200 sq. ft. w/loft) With roof top Solar and Propane we can live "Off Grid" connected only to Water but it is set up to use City or RV park power sources.
Completed cost, including Labor, Materials, Appliances, Solar power and the Trailer is around $20,000. Utilities should run us only a few dollars per month. If you can handle the "Minimalist" lifestyle Tiny Homes are the way to go.
