If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do first?
BUT you've only won £1 Million, how do you use it wisely to set you up for life?
I'm not sure how much that is in dollars but if I won a ridiculous amount of moey I would definitely pay off all my school loans and other debts before I did anything else with it. I think once I did that I could start saving up for a better future.
Pay off all of my summer classes. 20 credits cost a lot.... Plus I'm transfering so that adds a little stress and cost.
That's about $1.5M USD. I immediately pay off all outstanding debts (mortgage, cars, student loans) and look for solid income opportunities with the balance (revenue generating real estate, dividend-paying stocks). This allows continued income from my source prior to winning to go directly to recurring expenses, more investments, and leisure.
I would pay off all my debts, including the house, then I would look into investments and consult a stock broker so I could still generate some income.
If I won the lottery which we can assume is in the tens or hundreds of Millions of Dollars or British Pounds, I would first find a way to keep the family and then the money safe. I would help poor immediate family and relatives that are in need second. Thirdly, I would just splurge like crazy. That means buying a new home, cars, gadgets I always wanted, all the find steaks and lobsters, and buy items for the family. Fourthly, I would go on a very long vacation around the world and attend all my favorite sporting events.
If I only won a Million British Pounds or US Dollars, I would save most of it and invest in it conservatively. I would just work for a few years until the Million triples or quadruples and then do all the above with a little more constraint.
In the US, about half would go for taxes. After paying taxes, I would pay off my house, be sure I had enough for good medical insurance for the rest of my life and then save the rest for the inevitable emergencies that come up in life.
Well, first, after I picked myself up off the floor,I'd tell give thanks to GOD. Then I would buy myself a brand new Ford Mustang GT. Spend a little then focus on rolling out the advertising on some of my business endeavors and turn that one million dollars into ten million dollars.
I'd call my place of work and bluntly tell 'em to stick it where the sun doesn't shine!
No change in what I would normally do..except that now I would have to factor in how to distribute the new money..........
Wake up - I would know it was only a dream.
Okay so if it wasn't and I'd pinched myself, I think make a very strong cup of coffee. Move house quickly I could never handle all those begging letters.
Then sit down with a large sheet of paper and probably stare at for so long, because after family and close friends I would have so many charities I would like to help and to be honest you can't help them all.
My one dream though is I would love to buy my own private woodland, where the deer and wildlife could live free from culls and poachers.
And then I'll write a hub and let you know where all the money went!!
invest in some property or stocks so u will be set for life

If you won the lottery, say 10 million dollars, what would you do with the money?I would help...my church, a lot. I would put money aside for my children's future, buy a house and pay of my car, debts and put some aside for myself and my spouse, then I would spread the wealth around all family...

Would you quit work if you won the lottery? With the Mega Millions now over $500 million, it's one of those neat things to think about. I think I'd still go to work. I'd set up a trust for my kids and do some other things, but I'd probably still go to work, if nothing else for the health insurance....
