Do You Believe FAFSA Student Loan Website has your best interest?
Why doesn't the The FAFSA site tell student a way to pay-off school loans? Instead they tell you how to defer and lower a lower payment. There is nothing on the website that shows a student how much their payment affected their principal or how much interest they are accumulating based on deferment. No graphs or pic to illustrate the damage deferment does.
That information is on a different website, FAFSA simply determines eligibility (both grants and loans are covered by that form) the loan payment tables are found on studentloans.gov where the student has to go before taking out a loan to fill out a master promissory note in order to take out a loan. most students don't read that site carefully though. click on the repayment plans and calculators on the lower right side.
I know how to navigate the student . Gov site but there is nothing that spells out click here to pay off loan quickly! It is a disservice to all students! An 18 year old doesn't have foresight!

I just refinanced my home mortgage today--4% for 15 years. Closing costs around $1,900. This is the lowest interest rate in 50 or so years.
