Do you cut back on festivities because of hard economical times?

I find myself not really wanting to celebrate holidays such as Easter or Halloween because they feel like just another expense. I still feel pressured to have to because I have young children but begrudge wasting much needed money.
It is not my children that apply that pressure but family and social expectation. Do you feel similar?

Definitely! You can model wise financial behavior by making decorations, singing, or baking together rather than spending a lot of money and going into debt. It is important to live within one's means and also to save for a rainy day.

Yes. Well, the necessary ones, like birthdays and holidays we've just had to be more creative with in order to reduce expenses to make them happen. But, we have pretty much cut out going to community festivities, like festivals, carnivals, etc. There is just no extra funding for us to attend these functions any more.
