If you retire, are you planning on leaving your country to make the most of your retirement money?

For many people who are retiring, most of them want to go to a place where they don't have problems with the amount of money they have - be it pension or retirement money. Is your choice of a place to retire includes another country or you will look for a place within your country? Are there any other factors which may affect your decisions about retiring in another place.

Probably not a permanent move, but I will be looking to spend few months at the time in sunny places where my pension money will go further than they would do if I stay in my own country.

I would spend six to twelve month stays in other countries.  I would choose countries with a slower pace of life. I wouldn't want a permanent move away from family or life long friends. To me some things are more important than stretching retirement money farther.

For me people have the right to choose their retirement place, a place where they can enjoy their life and become comfortable in their retirement years. You wouldn't know unless you live in that country for a certain period of time before making a decision. Some people will fall in love with the place when they live in another country therefore will decide to live there permanently.

It is definitely your advantage if you live in a country with lower cost of living and decent medical cost. But it shouldn't be the main reason why you have to move in a different country. First you must like or love the country and the people. Even if you don't have money problem but you don't like the country and the people and you don't feel safe living there, then there is no point in retiring there isn't it?
