What is the craziest thing you have done to save money?
Walk to local shops to do my shopping in most cases rather than driving to bigger supermarkets. That saves me on petrol which over that last few years has doubled in per litre cost.
I also find buying bulk from these smaller local shops saves me money in the long run then buying small items from super markets branded products.
e.g. rather than buying a bag with say 10 large potatoes, i'd buy a big 10-15KG bag. That saves me money.
Years ago (many many) I got a clothesline and started hanging out clothes out instead of using the dryer. That lasted a few months and saved a few dollars but it was more work than it was worth and the clothes, while they smelled wonderful, were stiff as a board.
When I was just 5 years old I sowed a rupee coin and watered it regularly. After a few days I saw a plant coming up there and I was happy that it will bear rupee coins as fruits. But after a few days my parents shifted from that place and I could never visit to pluck the rupee coins.
At one point we were wearing headlamps at night to save on electricity. While entertaining, it wasn't sustainable.
