I have found over the years not to use American Express for my personal use, but to only use it for a business card. The rates and discounts can be better with other cards out there especially if your credit score is already low.
I've never understood the purpose of American Express credit cards where you have to pay to entire bill at once. What's the point of having a credit card that you can't break up and pay in increments? Wasn't that the whole idea? I'm not sure if American Express has changed that policy over the years but that's why I never applied for one. I may as well pay cash.
