Mutual Fund or Stock Market? Which investment gives more returns?
This question is impossible to answer accurately. Mutual Funds are a collection of stocks from the stock market, so there is really no way to determine the winner.
Mutual funds may contain other securities other than stocks such as bonds and money market instruments. Because of diversify, mutual funds tend to be less risky than individual stocks. Usually the riskier the investment, the greater the returns. So in sum, all other things equal, stocks would give greater returns.

I know the stock market is bad, but I'd like to start investing as I know there are a lot of great bargains out there. So if anyone can recommend any published books that they have read themselves, I would appreciate it.
