Should we only tax certain things? Are we paying too much tax?

As we know tax is everywhere from grocery to property tax... But should we really have to be paying that? Should we only tax certain items or just take it out overall? Are we paying too much for tax?

Taxes on income are unfair, invade privacy, and cause a loss of constitutional protection.

A National Sales Tax should entirely REPLACE Income Tax, and the Internal Revenue Code.

Staples, the necessary items for minimal survival shouldn't be taxed. The Internet sales shouldn't be taxed, until the government that taxes it can provide a safe environment that protects, or at least restores the victims, or even tries to restore the losses of the victims that were taxed.

The idea of taxation is really stupid to me...We are already paying a high amount for whatever it is that we are buying and they add the tax on top of it. We pay tax but seems like we spend it on useless things more than we do for the needs of people

The problem is that when the size and scope of the government increases as it has been doing for the last 70 years, it takes a lot of money to feed it.

The Laffer Curve finds that the ideal level of taxation (of all types) is about 20%. If the government takes less than that, the economy is fine, but there's less government revenue to work with. Take more than that, and the government hurts economic productivity AND tends to waste more because government is almost always less efficient and will waste when it has a surplus.

Now, you have to answer what is the optimum level of federal government? Do we want an obese or fit government, then we look at how much revenue is needed for them? my opinion
