Freedom or Greed? Which desire is strongest?

Give us our Freedom

Freedom or Greed - Which will Prevail in America?

Choices that were to be made in 2012 and beyond that would eventually impact all of our futures:

Freedom or Greed. Which did you choose?

Freedom does NOT include suppression, oppression, regression, recession, discrimination, incarceration or depression.

A taste of Freedom (Is it ever enough?)

A taste of Greed (Is it ever enough?)

How many of us can 'taste' anything and have it be enough to satisfy our desires or needs?

Anticipations not fulfilled

The world watched in total anticipation and awe, as an entire country went from a taste of freedom to the ultimate possession of it. A thing of the past.

The ramifications of this transformation will radiate well beyond this one country. It has reverberated across the entire globe.

It would be ludicrous to think that this quest and ultimate attainment of freedom, will stop here, at this period in history.

Our own government needs to take a good look at itself, and hopefully realize the consequences of, all the freedoms it is attempting to take away from the American people.

We are on a slippery downhill slope - heading to a pit of moral mandates and religious drownings in this country.

We are not all alike. No-one has all the right answers. No-one needs religion, or morality, forced upon us by mandate.

As i have said on many of my hubs - sin is only in the minds of the sinner, or those who would make judgements on others based on their own narrow minded beliefs.

The capital of capitalism - the evil empire

The corruption of Democracy

The corruption of our social democracy, and the recently attempted removal of personal freedoms for women, and denial of freedoms for the gay population, is noteworthy, in that, it is just the beginning of freedom loss for us in this country if we blindly allow it to happen through public apathy.

The Republicans want to take away the only means of support for a large majority of the elderly population, under the ruse that it is costing taxpayer dollars to maintain it.

Our social security system is the only remnant of solvency left in this corrupt government. It is paid for by worker salaries and currently has enough money to cover all retirees until the year 2040 and beyond even if it is stopped today.

The attack on the social security system is nothing more than an attempt to steal this money for the coffers of the wealthy. It is killing them that they cannot get their greedy hands on it in its present form.

To privatize this safety net for so many people in the name of saving this country money is a blatant lie by the new republican/tea party movement that wants to take us backwards in time.

Behind closed doors

While the crisis was going on in the middle east, the republicans were trying to cram legislation through; behind the backs of the American people.

The very thing they accused the Democrats of doing.

They have spent the last seven years refusing to participate in anything that would benefit the American people, and that could possibly put any restraints on the unmitigated thievery by corporate America.

The next few years will be spent attacking the Democrats and wasting time, and taxpayer money, trying to undo everything that has been accomplished over the past presidential term that might possible benefit the American people vs corporate America.

I find this party today to be a disgusting display of plutocratic buffoonery. If they spent half of their time trying to help the American people, that they spend sucking up to corporate America, and attacking the progressive movement, we would be in much a better economic situation than we find ourselves today.

Instead this congress has evolved into the worst do nothing congress in American history.

American losses/middle east gains

It looks like Democracy may spread throughout the middle east and be lost in America at the same time.

A blatant move directly from the misgivings and ignorance of a bunch of old narrow minded, greedy men who run this country by hiding behind the facade of conservatism, who want more for themselves than the American people.

The younger politicians being elected, are moralistic bigots backed by the moral police and corporate America. WE are truly lost.

My main disappointment in today's politics; is that, the Obama administration is selling out the American people to try to appease the wealthy, and the evil infidels infiltrating our government. .

Ignoramuses like Palin, O'Connell, McConnell, Beck, Limbaugh, et al, ( to name a few) , are more of a hindrance to progress than they are of help.

They advocate 'shooting' the liberals. Perhaps someone should start 'shooting' them instead. {"Figuratively" speaking of course, as Ms Palin so graciously stated.}

They are nothing more than smoke screens, used to attract the attention of the media, so the real dirt can take hold behind the scenes. Dirt, like Karl Rove, whose family name is actually 'Roverer'. His grandfather was Karl Heinz Roverer, the Gauleiter of Oldenburg. Roverer was Nazi State Party Chairman for his region. He was also a partner and senior engineer in the Roverer Sud-Deutche Ingenieurburo A.G. engineering firm, that built Birkenau Death Camp, at which tens of thousands of Jews, gypsies, dissidents, homosexuals, captured American soldiers, and others were slaughtered en masse.

Karl Rove (Roverer) has been based in Utah; also associated with the Mormon church, is widely viewed as the chief engineer of the Bush administrations. This is the Republican hero that is so worshiped today in the Republican party.

On the brink of disaster

We can only wonder where this country is headed?

Elections today are not won by the ability of the candidates. Most people really believe that GW Bush actually "won" those elections by popular vote. Amazing.

Karl Rove is no dummy. He knew who to back, and the Republicans fought tooth and nail to get electronic voting into place - with NO paper back up ballots to count in the event of a recall. The computers were hacked, totals changed, and no-one the wiser.

To re-iterate my previous contentions that future elections will not be won by popular vote, but by who has the most proficient computer hackers along with the money to buy the rest of the votes.

Expect more the same fate in the future, as in 2012.

Why K. Rove backed G.W. Bush? G.W. 's maternal grandfather (George Herbert Walker) and (Prescott Bush - G.W.'s grandfather) were both among Hitler's most important early backers. They funneled money to the rising young fascist through the Union Banking Corp in which Prescott Bush was on the board of directors.

The escalating devolving descent

In a case involving the Freedom of Information Act, the nation's corporate giants are asking the corrupt, corporate owned supreme court, to rule that they have a right to "personal privacy" just as people do.

If the Corporate Court ignores the ordinary meaning of the term "personal privacy" and grants corporations their wish to have the same rights as people, as in Citizens United, corporations will be able to block the news media and government watchdogs from accessing important government records that corporations would prefer remain hidden.

{Does this all sound familiar? All leading toward their ultimate goal of Corporate Autocratic Government control.} Their claim that inanimate corporations have feelings too, is at best, one of the most ludicrous claims that this evil entity has ever attempted to perpetrate on the American public.

This comes after supreme court justices A. Scalia and C. Thomas raised eyebrows and ethics questions late last year when they attended a conference sponsored by Charles and David Koch, the billionaire brothers who head Koch industries.

A comprehensive expose from the New Yorker reported on the Koch Brother's immense financial and ideological ties to the right wing and pro-corporate groups, and the Koch sponsored event that Scalia and Thomas attended, was held "to review strategies for combating the multitude of public policies that threaten to destroy America as we know it". (insurance coverage reform, wall street reform, limits on lobbying influences, public disclosure of money received for campaigning, etc...).

Is there really any doubt who owns and runs this government?

Who rules the roost

The tea party-ers are totally misguided by their ignorance.

They are blinded by party loyalty, when they scream that: 'we want to take our country back'. That same misguided loyalty they have to their religious benefactors. Blinded by ignorance and empty promises.

It is not the democratic party that our country should be "taken back" from - it is the corporate entities, and religious fanatics, that are owned (controlled) by the fascist movement alive and well here in America - the land of the free - at least, in theory, for now.

But, i do apologize for having MY priorities in the wrong place. It is way more important that we back the Birthers in questioning the authenticity of Mr. Obama's birth certificate - or the troublesome fact of what has now taken over our government, and trying to put us back to the same position we were in before their ousting two years ago. The cycle of madness never seems to end.

And we must not forgot the all important social issues of the republican party, regarding the censuring of the Smithsonian exhibits; or fighting to give back full power to the insurance companies, by taking away coverage from millions of Americans when they overturn the Obamacare legislation.

The republicans sure have their priorities in order. Makes me proud to be one. At least for the time being.

If we don't start paying closer attention to our American politics, we will find ourselves in the very position the Arab world is trying to shed.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Some of those cuts only hurt the middle class more. This government is spending trillions of dollars on foreign countries, tax breaks for the rich, and want to pay for it by cutting all services for the american people. disgusting.

I agree with everything you've written about. This country is on a down-hill slide and people don't seem to realize it. Putting the GOP leaders back in office will hurt the poorer class, because they care nothing about them. Greed has taken over on both sides. I was watching the evening news and saw that people were protesting the cuts proposed by the GOP. Thank you for a very interesting hub.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting. I never say which party is correct, or incorrect, i just point out the party with the most stupid attempts to thwart our freedoms and promote greed; and the corporate american theft of our tax dollars. (Getting excessive tax breaks and not adding new jobs to our economy, and giving those tax breaks to their CEOs in outrageous bonuses every time they turn around?)

I do not begrudge anyone from making a profit, but to take excessively out of our economy for their own bank accounts is just plain evil and sinful GREED.

The political bigots fight against what they perceive to be sins of morality, but condone sins of greed and avarice.

As a retired RN, i totally agree with you about the doctors' bearing some of the responsibility for their own undoings, not knowing the difference between pushing pills and pushing preventative measures.

It is way easier, and more financially lucrative, to promote the pharmaceutical companies for their perks, than to promote preventative medicine.

I really don't think there is much interest by medical providers, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, etc..' to promote anything but their own services. Their concerns are their bottom line profits, not the health of the public.

A lot of this is simply because, people in general, find it easier to take a pill than get off their fat butts and exercise; or they would rather eat unhealthy fast foods than take their precious time to eat healthy. And they they cry about poor health, and want more pills to make things right. 99% of all medications in this country are being consumed inappropriately and unnecessarily.

How can we expect average citizens to not be involved in criminal activities when we see the nation's leaders, big businesses, and church leaders blatantly stealing for their personal gains.

This country has lost its sense of direction. And it starts from the top, down.

Freedom is always the right direction as long as it doesn't take someone else's Freedom away. I (having worked in the Medical Field) and feel our Doctors created some of the medical problems, long ago...Always prescribing Medications instead of eating Healthy, Vitamins and Exercise, like plan own, get up off your butt and WALK. Now people have to decide which is more important buying their medications or eating...But then again, I'm now playing the "Blame Game".

Neither Party is correct...they forget why they were put into office, to Represent you and me. Respect Israel...and protect her, because if she falls, we all fall down.

Thanks for reading and your comments. And you are correct that the future is uncertain in Egypt, but the direction is the right one, and it certainly has stirred up a hornets nest in the middle east. I don't think the people will stand idly by and accept another oppressive regime. All they have done would be totally for nothing. We can only hope that when the dust settles, the dictators will be long gone and some kind of democratic process is in the making. I am waiting to see Iran get the shit kicked out of itself. Then who knows- N. Korea? We can only hope.

With all this said, our own government bears watching, so they do not take too many liberties away, or oppress any portion of our populace any more than they already are.

So far it is the same old thing in Washington. Just a thought, this "freedom" that we are all applauding in Egypt may very well turn out be in the form of an Islamic state that treats women like dirt( actually they already do that) and seeks the destruction of Israel. I totally agree with your take on Social Security, in fact, i wrote about this yesterday and stirred up the waters.
