Is the U.S. Economy Really Improving? Is Obama Responsible?

Updated on September 6, 2012

Can we believe what the Liberal media is telling us about our economy?

The media is clearly pushing for a second term for President Obama. Every day we hear them alluding to signs of an improving economy. Obama has been touting "we are on the verge of a slow recovery." But is the American economy really getting better?

Obama's Economy

Let me start off on the defensive. I am a conservative, hard working, Republican woman. If you are hoping for a Liberal take on our economy there are plenty of other outlets for you to find it. My purpose is to make you think and to provide a true look at what is happening in our country.

Our National Debt is significantly more than what it was when Obama took office. In 2007 our National Debt was $9,007,653,372,262.48 - a very disturbing number. Then candidate Obama, selling "Hope & Change" promised if he was elected he would cut our debt greatly. Well that didn't happen, three years into his term and our current National Debt, according to our National Treasury Department, is more than $13,561,623,030,891.79, what do we have to show for this increased spending? More debt and a struggling economy.

Gas prices are more than doubled and are creeping ever higher. When Obama took office gas was averaging $1.80 per gallon. Unfortunately, Obama's man in charge, Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, has stated he wants prices to go up to unbeleivable levels. Chu's stated goal is to " decrease our dependance on oil." My question to Mr. Chu would be, "is now the time to do that?" We are in the midst of a terrible economy, many Americans are still out of work, and these numbers are not improving regardless of what the big news medias may be trying to convince us of.

Unemployment is at almost 15% up 7% higher than Obama promised it would be by now. Media and Liberals are trying to convince us that the job market is improving and unemployment is decreasing - the facts state otherwise.

The number of Americans on Food Stamps is at an all time high - 46 million - a full 15% of the American population. That is a sad recovery if you ask me. This is not what Obama promised and this is not what America stands for.

If you are going to vote for another term for President Obama, please check out all the facts first, especially if a stable economy is important to you.

Mac31 thank you for reading and commenting. I want to especially thank you for your service to this country - I respect and appreciate that tremendously. I work in Healthcare and I know what you mean about TriCare and military health benefits. I am so concerned that Obamacare is going to lead to the same type of "poor" coverage that most doctors will not be able to take if they want to remain fiscally solvent.

I do feel that the economy has gotten much worse over the past couple of years and in my opinion I do not think that Obama is at fault here. Here is my reasoning behind why I feel that Obama is not at fault.

Obama can only implement a program that will try to create more jobs just as any other president has before him, however it is up to each individual company to take on the program. I honestly feel that this problem had already started happening before Obama was elected into office and feel that no matter who ended up in Office the same outcome would have came out of these. Right now we would be writing about John McCain on how he has not done what he said he was going to do.

Now don't get me wrong I honestly feel that Obama-care is going to bring us down to the ground because of the fact that the monies for this program have to come from somewhere. However, I also feel that this program is a great thing for families that cannot afford healthcare for their newborn child or toddler. I can remember when I got out of the military in 2005 how difficult it was to find a job because I had no experience doing anything. Well during those times I had a newborn myself and it was extremely difficult to get basic insurance for my family. Then being in the military with my newborn I could hardly find any doctors office that would be willing to see my daughter. The sad part about this is that congressmen get the best of the best insurance and me being in the military "we" are given healthcare were nobody wants to see our families, which is a whole other issue.

Regardless of who wins this election they are most likely to be talked about as we are talking about Obama right now. I feel that this country has dug itself into a hole that we are not going to be able to get out of. The one's that are going to be paying for the problems are our children, which I think is extremely terrible. The most important thing that the US Government should do is tighten up more on the spending that they are doing daily especially on companies that they are contracting to do something so simple that would normally cost you $3 and end up getting charged by these contract companies $70.

I beleive that the government is trying to prevent mass riot from economic downfall. Think about what has been said. It really hasn't happened.

This economy is a mess for which Obama is directly responsible, and everything that has been tried has just made things worse.
