THE SPIRIT OF SCOTT BROWN LIVES
WEST VIRGINIA POLITICS
For those of you who are unaware of this fact the state of West Virginia has a 2 to 1 Democrat registration majority. It's lonely being a conservative Republican in West Virginia. If you don’t believe me ask fellow hubber Sheri Sapp. Even though we live over 100 miles apart we have to endure the same Democrat machine. Folks the last time either house of the West Virginia Legislature was held by Republican majority was after the election of 1928. Lately the tide is turning. My fellow West Virginians are throwing off their shackles. Although being registered as Democrats West Virginians have an independent streak. We are seeing this at the polls. This was quite evident yesterday in the Primary election.
THE SPIRIT OF SCOTT BROWN IS ALIVE AND WELL IN WEST VIRGINIA!!!!!!
CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT ONE
The day after the State of the union speech on January 28, 2010 I wrote a rant on breakfastpop’s hub. Part of this rant will be repeated below.
“I don’t think limited government is possible with Democrats in charge. I may support some Independent candidates if they are in favor of limited government. My primary reason for my calling is to defeat all Democrats.
I really don’t want to do this, but I feel it is my duty to my country, my children, and my grandchildren. Also this is my duty to my fellow citizens. I’m in a lot of nerve pain, but I will fight through the pain best that I can to perform my duty. I think I won’t run for office since I consider myself unelectable, but I will be very supportive of limited government candidates. I will give this support everything I’ve got to give. I have one specific goal in mind that I want to accomplish.
Defeat Congressman Alan Bowlby Mollahan (D) for his seat as the congressman from the 1st Congressional District of West Virginia. He has held this office since 1983 through the present. His only qualification is that his father Fighting Bob Mollahan held it before him for sixteen years. Alan has done well for himself during his time in public service. He is now the 24th richest congressman out of 435. On February 28, 2006, National Legal and Policy Center filed a 500-page ethics complaint against Mollohan, alleging that the congressman misrepresented his assets on financial disclosure forms. Mollohan's real estate holdings and other assets have increased from $562,000 in 2000 to at least $6.3 million in 2004. For the period 1996 through 2004, NLPC alleged that his Financial Disclosure Reports failed to disclose real estate, corporate and financial assets that public records showed were owned by Mollohan and his wife.
On April 7, 2006, The New York Times reported that Mollohan "has fueled five non-profit groups in his West Virginia district with $250 million in earmark funding". Mollohan created these nonprofit groups and the leaders of these groups were sometimes investors with him, possibly leading to his own personal gain.
On April 21, 2006, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced that Mollohan would temporarily step down as the Ranking Democrat on the House Ethics Commitee. Howard Berman of California took Mollohan's place.”
HE’S TOAST
Regardless of the outcome of the November 2010 general election Alan Mollahan is toast. The voters of the first congressional district sent him packing. Quoting The Wheeling Intelligencer,” State Sen. Michael Oliverio, D-Monongalia, soundly defeated U.S. Rep. Alan Mollohan, D-W.Va., on Tuesday to win the Democratic Party nomination to West Virginia's 1st Congressional District seat.
The vote margin was sizable - Oliverio received 56 percent of the vote to Mollohan's 44 percent. With all precincts in the district reporting, Oliverio garnered 37,504 votes to Mollohan's 29,716…….Oliverio's campaign message has been a simple one - to restore integrity to Congress and the 1st District seat.
Billing himself as a "conservative Democrat," Oliverio campaigned against Mollohan from the right. And Mollohan was quick to draw a distinction between the two in his campaign, painting Oliverio as being more aligned with the philosophies of the Republican Party.
"For a long time, people had no choice," Oliverio said. "We offered a choice." “
GOAL ACHIEVED
My goal of seeing the weasel Mollahan defeated has been realized. Now it’s onward to November to put our Federal Government back into the hands of WE THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Obama, Pelosi, Reid unholy trinity is crumbling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
