    If a woman chooses by herself, without it being a religious edict and an order from her religion or her husband to wear it, then I believe that the woman has that right.

    The wearin or not wearing should be solely her choice as say a fashion statement, and not something she has to do.

    Mary wore one because it was how women dressed back in those days.

    The one thing I hate to see is when the woman wears that veil that covers her face. I become scared thinking is she evil, is she out to rob or hurt someone and is trying to cover her face?

    At last there is an outbreak of common sense around this issue. The situation that would arise would be just two ridiculous if the law was passed. Nuns would be liable to be arrested on the street and there are a lot of them in Italy. A veil and wimple is little different from a hijaab.
    There is no justification in dictating what people wear in public if it is decent. I do think, however, that teachers in class and anyone who has occasion to appear in Court, should have their face uncovered. Apart from that it can only be regarded as a rascist imposition. It shouldn't happen.
