Is there limit to population growth?
or technology always has a way to sustain population growth?
As a believer in population control i would say yes. I think the global communtiy works together to limit earths population.
Eventually we will hit a threshold. I remember hearing a number somewhere around 10 billion as the maximum that Earth can sustain, but I would argue that 5 billion is more than enough. Since at this point we're in the middle of those two figures, something should be done but any approach to it can be considered unsavory at best.
Our best bet on doing something that "pleases all" would probably be to find some other planet to sit our fertile butts on. Decreasing, or stopping the increase of population is taboo; but finding new territores to settle is a very human thing to do.
Yes; even if it comes down to the physical limit of the amount of space we humans can occupy here on Earth (or anywhere else we decide to plant our seeds for civilization).
This is among the biggest fallacies purveyed by the uninformed. So many countries have negative generational population growth that Earth will not hit any sort of population limit. The USA is on the bubble, defined as 2.0 births per woman, to sustain current generational population levels. While some countries do have very high birth rates per woman, the infant mortality rate and life expectancy keep things mostly in check for these countries. War and other externalities also play a role here.
In short, many countries will cease to exist in two or three generations, with the population replaced in those countries by immigrants from high birth rate countries. See Europe for numerous examples.
I agree with you. In fact one of the reasons why our social secruity and medicare programs are in trouble is because there are (not enough people) to tax and support the "baby boomers" as they retire. Much like pyramid schemes they require new blood.
I remember a demographer telling me that the Earth's population was on the decline. This was about 4 years ago. Apparently the whole human race is on a gigantic population curve, the peak of which will place around 10 billion people on the earth. After the peak of this curve, the population will normalize to (hopefully) manageable levels.
The problem most worry worts have with population growth pertains to this "10 billion" population milestone. I think we're supposed to reach 10 billion by 2050 or something like that. I just hope we don't all end up like Japan (anemic population growth and a rapidly aging population). The future's gonna suuuuuuuck.

This is actually a math question. #RealFact: Over the Long-Run, the GDP Growth Rate is roughly equal to Population Growth Rate PLUS Productivity Growth Rate. Before you say BS, consider this. From 1960 through 2016- GDP grew at a rate of 3.8%. - Population, on the other hand, grew at an...

I am finding it hard to fathom that in 2013 we still have underdeveloped countries, where people starve from lack of food, must drink from contaminated water sources and live in substandard shelter. My question is why does this occur when billions have been poured into these countries? What is...

Outside of war as an option for some, what two options would you offer to stop population growth. And what do you think the initial effects would be on our everyday lives? For instance do we reduce on prolonging life and letting nature take its course? Do we ban the global population for having...

I have heard many good arguments about overpopulation putting a huge burden on resources, from China to India overpopulation has been a issue that needs dealing with. So what is the argument that this is not a problem and it being called one is a hoax? I have heard a few people (mostly on this...
