   If an act is truly selfless, it would have nothing to do with you. An act of self starts with self. Doing a "selfless act" everyday would be something that you did not do everyday.
   
   Something cannot be about you and not about you at the same time, it is incomprehensible.
   
   A "selfless act" is an oxymoron.
   
   A "selfless act" will always have a what is in it for me factor, or some self importance attached to it because it will effect you and others in a good or bad way.
   
   If there is a personal reason for a "selfless act," you cannot completely take self out of it.

   One must always grow outside of oneself. When you can selflessly think and do for others, you are suddenly not the only thing in the world that matters. I think joy is the best fruit of that selfless gift. Joy in knowing you have helped someone and that someone knowing and feeling joyful that someone could actually care. These are gifts beyond price. Not expecting anything in return, but just giving because you can and you know it is right.

   Mata Amritananda Mayi says that it is sure that any act we do is going to bring a fruit -- whether it is good good or bad. That's clear. So, any selfless act you do is also going to bring its fruits.   "Selfless" means that you are not going to look for the fruit nor claim ownership to that fruit.
   
   It means you will not feel elated by good results nor get depressed by bad result because you are not going to be the owner of the fruit.
   
   But by divine dispensation, that fruit will definitely come (in some form) not comprehensible to you and it is mostly spiritual.

   The selfless act that  I can do everyday  is to give charity (smile). Allah says that  "Even giving a smile to others is a Charity".

   That would be praying for those who I believe need God in their lives. I am actually doing it since I feel that  if I can pray and fast for myself, why not do it for others

   It will make one person, every day, happier/healthier/better off.
   
   It may be the one thing that saves a person.  One person saved, by one selfless act - is a step in the right direction.

    Nothing will happen except  always carrying a burden on your mind  for the sin you committed. Sometime you will not be able to stand before the God,  if praying for anything. If you do anything  wrong or against the will of almighty, rest assured you are going to pay the price and that you will face yourself in your life itself  one or on any other day.without any prior warning.

    That is easy a better world. That is actually all that needs to be said to answer this question why over complicate the answer. But it said my answer was too short and wouldn't accept it. The truth is that if you took the time everyday to do one selfless act the world would be better off for it.

    I care for an elderly man that suffers from dementia and Parkinson's-He cannot speak or care for himself. I shower him and groom him, and change his 'diapers. I do for him that which he is unable to do for himself. I don't do this for myself, I do it for him but I do feel good for doing it, so perhaps I'm not being selfless or doing something selfless...I still feel as if I've accomplished something.

    It would equal 365 selfless acts per year! That's a whole lot of wonderful happening. I also believe that what we do spirals. One selfless act befgets another,. so who knows how many acts there would be in a year.

    It makes you a better person and the world a better place to be in.  It spreads love - not hate or apathy.  It encourages others by the example  you set.  Even those with no material wealth have a wealth of love to give to the world - if only they choose to.  The end result is happiness for the giver but also happiness for the one who receives.  I tend to think the one who does the giving actually reaps a higher reward from the exchange.

    Selfless act?  Is there any such thing?  When I do what appears to be a selfless act, I can't help but believe that I will receive something later, KARMA.  Most people, me included, do such things because it makes them fill good, selfless?  To see the look on a kids face when you take them and Mom to a store and buy a coat or shoes, priceless, but not selfless.  I'm greedy and love the way it makes me feel.
