Why is it when a black person points out injustice done to their people it's pulling the race card?
I've noticed anytime a person of color speaks of hundreds of years of injustice to their people they are told they are pulling the race card or are told to get over it. Yet when a Jewish person brings up the Holocaust or about how people are antisemitic they aren't perceived as pulling the race card? Why the double standard?
I'm really going out on a limb here, but I don't understand it. I grew up in a mixed area and never (seriously, never) had any of this.
The big ace card for me is that being a Christian it puts us all at ground level and the same. There is only one race - man, and that race is made up of amazing colors. There is not racism, but colorism (I know that's not a word, but I think you understand), unforgiveness and misunderstanding.
How boring it would be if we were all the same. God knew what He was doing and loved every "color" He created - on purpose.
We love all the colors of the rainbow, every color of flower or tree. Black and white are even the most worn color of clothing or color for a vehicle. All make this world beautiful and what it was meant to be. Why can't we accept that color is a good thing?
People aren't willing to forgive or forget even when it didn't happen to them. That is why we need God's grace so much. I don't want to hear my Creator say to me one day, "Why didn't you love as I did?"
Thanks for posting the question. Hope it answered something for you. Blessings
I agree with you. To acknowledge that african americans have been mistreated with genocide and slavery to this day seems to make europeans upset to point the ugly truth. Once we can face that ulgy truth can the nation start to heal together.
Che
Can you please tell me what color are people of color and those people who are absent color, how do you know they are even there? That is one of the most idiotic statements I have ever heard and it seems very popular. It speaks well to a society clothed in ignorance and a society bent on division.
Precisely, what injustice are you speaking about? Was it unjust to put people into slavery? Yes and does anyone deny that? Although it was not unjust at the time. Was it unjust for Africans to raid other villages capturing other Africans and then sell them? Please tell me if that was unjust and why do you not speak of that, which is the worst sin. Was it unjust for wealthy African salve traders (blacks) to petition London to continue the slave trade? Were these black African slave traders just victims too? Africans were putting Africans into slavery long before the Europeans and Americans. You might check too, the money that was made by Africans selling Africans to the Arab countries. For the most part there is no culture that has not been enslaved at some point in history. And is it not true that slavery still continues in Africa. today?
Are you speaking of the recent shooting in Ferguson? What is the injustice there? Are you speaking of the men, women and children being murdered in Chicago and other major cities by people of their own skin color for no reason? That is injustice.
Exactly what race do you think you are? I am homo sapien sapien. Are you more than that or less than that?
It is also very tiring to hear of the poor Jews, as constant victims, but at the same time the strength that they exhibit is inspiring.
You speak of a denial of justice and the perpetuation of injustice and always justify that with slavery. You do not speak to the individual situation without racial rhetoric. And it would seem that you wish to mask everything with slavery, promoting an illusion of victimhood and an oh woe is me defense.
Contrary to this you have the Ben Carsons, Bill Cosbys, Obama, Holder and so many more who have demonstrated an individual strength of character and integrity that seems to be so lacking in so many, but yet it is not your fault.
As,is demonstrated by these people, the Cosbys and Carsons, you have to stand alone and strong to succeed and they have. You want to succeed? You want respect? Stop thinking as a pack and respect is not given it is earned. It cannot be legislated or demanded. A tough guy does not gain respect because he talks .
You are correct color isn't a race and we are all apart of the human race no need to get offensive. The point I was making is that african americans are constantly mistreated. From slavery on till the present. 60 mil were killed in the middle passage
Che--I was not insulting. I was accurate.I find it offensive for a member of the human race to identity with skin color, How demeaning that is. Your point is invalid and your facts are wrong.Your own people sold you into slavery--3 to 12 million died
Jews aren't considered white. Christians, Muslims, Catholics, etc aren't considered a race.
BTW, At one point Britain declared the Irish non-white.
1920's Eugenics in America considered Italians unfit for procreation. The Harriman railroad fortune paid local charities, such as the New York Bureau of Industries and Immigration, to seek out Jewish, Italian and other immigrants in New York and other crowded cities and subject them to deportation, trumped up confinement or forced sterilization.
The double standard I see is to say that the black community's problems are a result of a racist white culture. Why did the national media label a Jewish-Colombian George Zimmerman as White?
One of the most widely accepted double standards is that Non-Whites have legitimate racial interests but Whites do not.
Do you know why they started considering jews, Italians and Irish white? The number of African americans grew and they needed to give the "white" population a broader definition for more numbers.
People don't want to be pointed out for their wrongs. If they have beliefs that the country no longer supports, the last thing they want is the spotlight or a video of them in the wrong. What people don't like to admit is, the race matters if the conclusion is death. How many people steal everyday? Thousands, and all races. But how many of them are shot seven times for petty theft, or stealing a candy bar? And call it strong armed robbery like some other guy does on hubs. So they immediately look for ways to blame the victim, or destroy the person's character instead of just admitting they were wrong and got caught. That's the reason why the protest and the noise is absolutely necessary. Otherwise, the people who are not the race of the victim would not care, and they would just go back to sleep like nothing happened. And many still have the "so what" attitude, until they are affected in a similar way.
Eugenics program was created just for african americans. In fact hitler praised American scientist in his book and sent his scientist to america to learn eugenics which is still apart of society today. The iq test was created by a eugenicist.
Che==Have you ever bothered to check out anything you say or do you just spout this stuff for effect. It must be a sad thing thing to live in a vacuum.
Because you have people like Al Sharpton and Jessee Jackson who only want to fuel the fire and cause so much racial tension for their own monetary gain. Why must it be a question of color. Are we not all created equally in the eyes of God? And to beat it all both of the gentlemen I have mentioned are supposed to be Reverends. But, instead of trying to spread love as they should be doing, they are just fanning the flames of racism and racial tension. It is like they draw a line in the sand, if it seems profitable enough of a case and there is enough media coverage they will be right there. If a police officer would gun down a innocent white man; they would not think twice about it. They are only keeping the flames of racism burning. "Love one another" is Christs greatest commandment.
The United States is a racist country. If anyone doesn't believe me, remember that we had to have a civil war and wipe out 2% of our population just to end slavery. And that was decades after all of Europe had already abolished slavery! We had famous black jazz and opera singers moving to Europe to be big stars in the 1910s and 1920s because they would be murdered in the US. Americans do not get angry at Jews because it was Nazi Germany and not the US that was murdering the Jewish people. West-African slavery is an embarrassing chapter in US history that court historians prefer to gloss over. We have not scratched the surface on slavery, though the truth is starting to come out a little at a time: female slaves were considered to be the sexual property of their white owners. Thomas Jefferson, the guy who wrote our Declaration of Independence, fathered children by his dead wife's half sister (who was his own slave). Homosexual Senator from Alabama and North Carolina William King is now believed to have possibly raped his male slaves. The sexual aspect of it was more the rule than the exception. Most black Americans today have European DNA as proof. Slaves were beaten and killed and subjected to disease and starvation--not to mention families broken up (not that they were permitted normal family units). Until America is willing to look in the mirror and really face the sins of its past, we will never move forward. It's a shame too, because the only independent culture that has been created in the US comes from the African-American community. The rest is a cheap imitation of England.
We might have a half-black president right now, but his father was a Kenyan immigrant. He was not descended from the American slave culture. He had less challenges to overcome than the average person of African descent in the US. Yet no one can look past his skin color long enough to notice this reality.
Going back to the question, the only answer I have is that the US is a historically racist country. Slavery didn't end until the 1860s. It took another 100 years and the 1960s just to allow black people to be LEGALLY treated as equal citizens who could use the same rest rooms and so on. And the symbolic leaders of these milestones were murdered. The new milestones are probably less-definable things like, social acceptance, dignity and understanding. It'll probably be the 2060s before that finally happens at this rate, but I think we are making our usual very slow progress.
Old--It would seem that your whole identity is focused on the color of your skin and what you claim as the past, which you did not have to experience. That is a very sad existence. I would be resentful too.
Cj you seem ill informed. It was much more than 12 million. New studies show it was closer to 60 million. If it's not about color or ethnicity then why are african americans still fighting for equality in education, in the judicial systems?
Che--I am always willing to learn. Provide your source. What do you use to prove your last errant statement?
You are 100% on point with your comment. Thanks for the response.
