The higher expectations are, the greater disappointment is. I guess, millions of people put too many hopes on Obama as a President and when they did not get what they expected they started to feel hatred. But this is my subjective perception from aside, as I am not American citizen.

I think you are right.  Too much was expected of Obama...but then he had quite a mess to clean up.

Every president is hated by the opposition party in the U.S.
Trust me millions of people hated George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and so on. Historically after a new president is elected there is a "honeymoon period" and after that's over the opposition party dedicates itself to making sure that president is NOT re-elected and if that fails they attempt to heap various amounts of scandals and distractions during their second term to keep their party from winning a 3rd term. Right now the favorite is Hilary Clinton another Democrat.
More often than not the nation chooses to elect the opposition party after an 8 year run with the previous president's party. One of the few exceptions was with George H.W. Bush who succeeded president Reagan in 1988.
Having said that many people dislike a president for personal reasons as well. In Obama's case race is probably a factor in addition to his party's agenda. For some people just his existence sickens them. Even when he agrees with some Republican initiatives they'd rather stall or vote against it in order to not make him or his party look good. It's extreme gridlock in D.C.
A lot of folks dislike him but fail to acknowledge (if he left office today) VP Joe Biden would uphold Obamacare, pursue a raise in minimum wages, fight for immigration reform, and look for ways to revamp student loans and prop up the "middleclass".
Obama is not doing anything that the (Democrats) aren't in favor of! The people who hate him or any other president actually hates that president's  (party agenda/platform). The president is a figurehead.
With regard to Obama and key performance indicators when compared to when he took office in 2009 during the "Great Recession" anyone who says things are worse now is living in denial! Unemployment has dropped from 10% to 5.9%, the stock market is at historic all time highs, foreclosures on homes have dropped significantly, home values are increasing, projected deficits are dropping as the wars come to a close, and Osama Bin Laden is dead.
Historically American's blame their misfortunes on whomever is in the White House at the time. However some people are actually personally doing BETTER than they were still may hate his policies!

Let's not forget the photoshopped images, falsified or out-of-context quotations, and/or the simple fact that he's not a white guy.

The only people who hate Obama are the right-wing Republicans.  They hate anything he does and want nothing but bad things to happen to him.  It was like that way when Bush was president, only it was the Democrats hating.  But in Bush's case, I think it was everyone by the end of his second term.

I love Obama and think he has done a pretty good job considering the hole we were in when he started. I really have never hated a President before though and never will, hopefully. I was awfully disappointed in Bush because of how he reacted to 911 and for his fiscal irresponsibility of lowering taxes while keeping the costs of two wars off the books, but that isn't the same as hate. I certainly don't wish him ill. I have to think they all try their best to do whatever they think is best for America. What more can anyone ask of them really? I do think many of the people around them- advisors, lobbyists, the corporate elite are too powerful and too self-serving. That doesn't change no matter who is POTUS.

Obama seems to be more successful than many Presidents have been even without significant bipartisan support to enact his policies. I think anyone who truly hates him either doesn't care to pay their fair share to make America more successful or is racially motivated to feel hate toward him anyway. Even the hardcore Republicans I know do not profess to hate him. Many can admire his media savvy, speechmaking abilities, serious nature, and that he is a person of humble birth who has done well for himself, a genuine American success story. In other words, ideological differences aside they can at least admire in him what they agree are his best qualities.

No President is ever totally loved or totally hated. Some people may not like Obama but I do not believe he is hated so much. If he is, then include the statistics to prove it....and for the record I like him.
