Growing up hearing about this kind of stuff has left many questions and concerns in my mind...I am glad to hear more about it in this perspective. I think most of us in my generation tend to have only let it in on the distant edges of consciousness...it was more important to our parents generation,
I also think many people tend to believe that it doesn't matter in today's world. It is my opinion socialism leading to communism is an important concept to understand and should not be ignored...especially in its contrast with being American. It is important to have conversations on these issues because there appears to be opposing views these days in what it means to be American.

How strange that there is opposing views in what it means to be American. You would have thought everyone would think the same as you.
Which is as ridiculous as saying conservatism leads to fascism, socialism is a far older system than communism and currently more than half of the worlds population lives in socialist systems, the vast majority of which are stable constitutional democracies.
The disinformation is the fear mongering being peddled about how something like healthcare for people who are dying without it is going to cause a dictatorship when every first world nation in the world has the same thing.

Why would anyone post a question in Religion and Philosophy and then delete opposed responses? There was a question asked in this category. The question had a lengthy "additional details". If the answers or comments went against the bent of the details they were deleted. Do some people...

It just occurred to me, and I wanted to record it before it slipped away again, that there are two types of Capitalism; Theoretical and Practical (Duh!) What I also noticed is that the endless debates about capitalism between the Right and the Left go on and on, into infinity without each...

I regard myself as socially liberal, but more conservative fiscally. I normally defend liberal issues in these forums. However, I think it's good sometimes to show a bit of non-partisanship, so I thought I'd offer up a couple of recent examples of liberal stupidity that drive me nuts. I hate to see...

In criticizing the State of the Union address and in particular Obama's reference to this country needing a "Sputnik moment", Sarah Palin had another one of her "moments" yesterday on "On The Record with Greta Van Susteran". Here's what she said: "He needs to...
