The gun he used was illegal under Connecticut law.
His mother owned it illegally.
So the answer to the original question is ‘no.’
No, because the mother would simply have bought some other kind of gun.
However, that "other kind of gun" would have been a gun with less capacity for rapid mass slaughter - raising the chances that one of those heroic teachers would have been able to disarm the killer, or that aid would have arrived while the killing was still in progress.
Did you know that the rifle he used would have been legal under the old Assault Weapon Ban?
No I didn't, so that just shows the old law was also inadequate.
It's probably going to be pretty close to whatever new law they bring to the table next year.
Even the law-makers don't know what they are trying to ban. We don't know what we/they are trying to ban. I don't understand why people don't want to, at the very least, set down and define things.

With all of the uproar over gun laws lately, I'm curious to see what HubPages thinks. So here's the question:A) What guns, if any, should be allowed?B) Do "gun laws" actually accomplish anything?

He bought all the weapons in the past month or so. Assault weapons are used...
