   “Why are we here, what's life all about? Is God really real, or is there some doubt? Well tonight we're going to sort it all out For tonight it's the meaning of life.“ What do you think is the meaning of life (besides a funny movie). I only ask you try and keep it civil, clean, and as interesting as possible.
   
   According to Douglas Adams the writer of “ The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy” the answer is 42. So there is that

      We're all just a random collection of atoms and chemicals, with random, uncontrollable synapses firing and causing us to do things of no free will. Free will is an illusion, and death is the end.

         Aren't you just a ray of sunshine. 
         The opposite of free will is Determinism. The idea that all our choices have already been made aka fate. So random would not fit into it.

               Yes, but for most people these are the popular ones. With Terminator 2 as free will and Terminator 3 as fate. We tend to look at everything as extremes like with politics (right or left) when in reality most people fall in between. What are the other options? And Do we get to choose?

   There is no universal meaning of life.  Each of us chooses our own meaning for our own life.  Most are afraid to create their own meaning, so they let themselves be guided by other people, most often under the guise of religion, and fool themselves into believing they are better for it.
