Life is without meaning. It is merely a gift of a blank canvas for you to paint your view. Others can only look upon your picture and project their meaning onto it, but only the painter knows intimately what is portrayed. Paint with purpose and use as many colors as you can always adding layers and texture. Though it's a painting that will never be finished it should be a lasting reminder of the beauty that is the painter! Live! Embrace every moment of joy and sorrow, pain and laughter, every emotion a different color, a different texture, and every life a different painting yet all made with the same paints.
Ah, Poppa Blues, you beat me to it. Making meaning is a very human thing to do. The universe does not necessarily have a plan, especially one that only directly effects lowly homo sapiens. We're just another organism among many - our intelligence, as much as we'd like it to, does not privilege us in the context of everything that is.
Meaning is so arbitrary, but many require it because the alternative is so bleak. I'm personally trying to find comfort in the fact that I don't matter. Contrary to what many believe, that outlook can actually be quite liberating.
What I meant by "I don't matter" is not that I am deprived of the acceptance of others. It is simply that the whole notion of thinking of yourself as particularly meaningful in the universe is something of a childish concept to me.
I can create meaning for myself, and be happy with my own identity, but I acknowledge that doing so is artificially constructed for my own comfort. The universe doesn't care if I live or die or find happiness while I'm a part of it. Human emotions are trivial in the big everything.
I could also say that everybody else does not matter, but I don't want to be argumentative, and on some level can respect why most people would not want to confront that.
So I appreciate your consolation, but I didn't mean to perpetuate a tone of "poor me!" I was simply stating what I believed to be a reasonable evaluation of my role as a human being.
Posting hub forums is part of my life. The meaning of life is to go on and on until the end of your days.I think there will be many explanation of the meaning of life.Perhaps finding out the meaning of life the the real meaning of life.Since you have figured out the meaning please let us know..thanks.
what about a teenager dying ? Does he finds a way ? Don't think so. So it's not that we live the way you say. You do. Your version is good for you. Each one of us has a personal view of life. They're all valid.
Religious leaders and religious based groups WANT and EXPECT you to accept they know and understand "true" life.
How ever, this is false.
Jesus Christ, not a preacher, but a teacher, only wants YOU to accept your human consciousness, as your guide in your life and to accept your conscience as your tool for morality, and to cherish/value other people's lives, as well, as your own.
By accepting the above- You obtain any goal set by you for yourself. You have no need to seek external guidance, to gain eternal life, you only have to accept your life.
Your life's meaning:
Purpose: to be set by YOU and no one else.
*rule one: protect/perserve life at all costs.
*rule two: live by your conscience morality, to do good work by helping humankind to live.(any immoral action- only destroys life)
*rule three: always maintain the highest self-responsible level you can.
If you choose no purpose, then you'll be no different than the animals already roaming the Earth. You will become guided by others, and used for their own purposes and not yours. Therefore, you will have wasted for your entire life on nothing.
If you're satisfied with that- seek medical help now, before you die.
If you choose not to be moral, by creating immoral acts, you are to become a life/value destroyer, and will more than likely hated by many, which at some point will end your life.
If you chose not to be self-responsible for your own actions, eventually, your conscience will destroy your life, you'll end up hating life and then there is good chance...if you have the courage and are not a coward, will be "suicide", because you won't be able to live with yourself.
What happens to those who don't live by the rules? It is in my post if you don't live by those basic rules.
Who wrote these rules? No one wrote them, there built-in to your human consciousness and conscience.
How are you so sure that a serial killer hates his life? What he feels or his emotions are not moral or immoral, but their action to DESTROY life, cannot be allowed to happen because of the value of life.
I feel you've completely made my case, but you don't realize you've done that.
I find that tid-bit ironic.
But, since you were so kind to do so, I only feel it is necessary, to help you understand, how you did that.
And, I do so by acknowledging science, human nature and human consciousness/awareness, and human conscience.
With that said- if you are not sure what any of those are, then I suggest you read up or take a refreshers course.
How ever, I will break it down:
What is Human Nature?(goes for every human being on the planet!)
Answer: To satify one's own healthy needs and to set one's own standards...to live without being obligated to fill someone else's needs or to follow someone else's standards. But in freedom, a person's actions must be rational and responsible to be beneficial. Irrational or mystical actions will always diminish a person's well being and happiness.
So, if you do not accordingly, you defy your own existence to be who you are, which contradicts the main REASON for your human consciousness and/or conscience.
Human Consciousness: to be self-aware, the ability to know oneself is alive.
Human Conscience: is a guide for moral/good and/or immoral/bad actions.
When you answer to any other authority or give up your free will to control your own life, either through religion or mystical roots, you deny your own ability to live, as you were intended.
GOD supposedly want you to go against Life? Please say it isn't so.
Here is an easy answer: Life- is a journey defined by oneself's human consciousness/awareness and conscience, that defines oneself's purpose, then uses free will thinking to design a plan and the steps involved, and when the plan is finished, set actions into motion.
You answer to no one. You are guided by your human consciousness and conscience. No other assistance is required.
You can rationalize anything you see, taste, smell, touch and hear.
You can NOT rationalize anything that is unimaginable. You might be able to imagine a "GOD" in your, but that is a fictional picture in your mind, because you've never seen him/her.
Therefore, you accept what you can rationalize and all other matters are to be dismissed. Because, if you don't, then your subconscious will suffer, you age more quickly, your body deteriors and you eventually die.
If you take anything away from religion- take this- Life Is Eternal and Heaven does exist. But, it's not what you think.
Life is Eternal- Yes, Human Being potential eventually leads to Immortalility.
Heaven is Earth!
Another to remember- Jesus Christ was a Human Being. He did not teach religion. Yet, his scriptures are in religious text.
The 'church' absorbed his teachings, and he followers, after they Murdered him.
He did not die for anyone's sins. He died because he refuse to preach religion, to perpetuate the hoax, religious leaders were controlling slaves with.
From a non-religious point of view: What in your opinion is the meaning of life?If you feel this question can't be answered without a religious beleif please don't answer. I am interested what people think the meaning of life is from a more philosophical point of view. Thanks!
“Why are we here, what's life all about? Is God really real, or is there some doubt? Well tonight we're going to sort it all out For tonight it's the meaning of life.“ What do you think is the meaning of life (besides a funny movie). I only ask you try and keep it civil, clean, and as interesting...
