Are you as tired of hearing the negatives going on around us. How about a thread about people who REALLY make a difference in this world. I would love to read more about them.
Here is my first nomination!
Ron Finley: A guerilla gardener in South Central LA

People hate being reminded of the many restrictions on their freedom, the simple reality that there are so many activities and values they are not supposed to do or hold. Perhaps we violate the Ten Commandments so much precisely because ALL of them are negatives! Anyway, here's a great little story about getting what you want in this life by changing the thinking of others thru POSITIVE language---- The groundskeepers at a large public park in London had worked hard to re-seed a large grassed section. When finished, they posted this sign: "NEWLY SEEDED!
do NOT walk here.!" People almost plowed FURROWS through the seeded area in response to the negative message. But when the gardeners put up a new sign that read, "NEWLY SEEDED--Please stay on the path...", they got close to 100% cooperation. A simple tale illustrative of the point that we like to receive positive messages about what we CAN do, rather than negative messages about all the stuff we CANNOT.
Wonderful Example! Amazing really what a large role words can play on the psyche!
