As a non-American Do you feel America is a safe place to go to?

   This is a strictly a question for non-American  so please don’t answer if you are from the US. If you are a resident alien or an expatriate then that is fine (go ahead and answer)
   
   Do you think that the United States has become to violent to be safe to travel to? With all the recent shootings would you allow your children to go to school (college or private primary school) in The United States?  Would you allow them to come here on vacation or come yourself?

      I read a recent survey that people feel safer visiting New York than they do London. I live in the UK and I would have no reservation about visiting NY.
      Having never visited the US myself I can only perceive how I would feel and in the main I wouldn't feel unsafe unless I was visiting somewhere I knew to be of particular danger.
      There are still more dangerous places in the world to visit that the US.

   When I go to the US, I don't necessarily feel more threatened than I do in the UK . . . except perhaps when I'm treated like a terrorist at the airport.
   
   I'd be perfectly happy to bring my children there, but I'd home-school them. I'm more worried about propaganda than shootings.

   What about as an American do you feel safe to go to public gathering, strategic cities without feeling the CIA/FBI...'s sword of Damocles hanging over your head (Sep11, Boston bombing, the Santa Monica killing spree...)?
